Zanny Minton Beddoes asks how Musk’s companies make money when shareholders still expect returns. Musk answers by asking what money is for: goods and services such as food, housing, transport and entertainment. If AI and robots can provide more of those things than any person could possibly consume, he argues, what would money still be needed for?

MATLALA MAKES A SERIOUS CLAIM AT THE COMMISSION

Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has given evidence about his business relationships with Mike Van Wyk, Katiso “KT” Molefe and Brown Mogotsi.

Matlala says he only had a business relationship with Van Wyk and denies that they were friends. He also confirms that they shared other businesses, including ventures in the security sector, but denies any joint commercial activity with Van Wyk’s company, Anubis.

Matlala further denies having any relationship or business dealings with KT Molefe.

He says he first came to know Brown Mogotsi after Mogotsi allegedly contacted him following a police raid at his home. Matlala claims Mogotsi allegedly impersonated someone from the Police Minister’s office and says he believes this was an attempt to get him to provide financial assistance.
