Northumbria Police Christmas warning over burglary threat
Northumbria Police said 22 offenders were locked up for more than 41 of those years.
It comes as householders and businesses are being told to keep their cars, homes, outbuildings and premises safe over the festive period.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Coll said: “Burglary is a destructive crime which can cause untold damage to homes and businesses in our communities.
“Sadly, we often see a rise in burglaries and thefts in the run-up to Christmas.
“We’re asking the public to stay vigilant and take simple steps to keep their homes secure this festive season.

“Double-check that your cars, homes, and outbuildings are locked, keep Christmas gifts out of sight, and never store them in vehicles.
He added: “These small actions can make a big difference in reducing the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
“If you spot anything suspicious in your community, please report it to us straight away.”
