Chris Eubank Jr’s Tweet After Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua Causes Stir
It was not long after Jake Paul survived until Anthony Joshua knocked him down twice in the fifth, and then out for good in the sixth, before industry experts fired off social media posts dissecting the internet sensation’s performance. And one of the comments that went viral seemingly immediately was from Chris Eubank Jr.
But rather than comment more so on his fellow Brit, ‘AJ’, who took with him to the ring accolades including an Olympic gold medal and former two-time heavyweight world boxing champion, Eubank was more interested in reacting to Paul, who flopped to the floor multiple times, was knocked down twice in the fifth, before getting finished, for good, in the sixth.
Jake Paul Spits Blood During Post-Fight Interview After Being Knocked Out by Anthony Joshua
Jake Paul spat blood after his brutal knockout loss to Anthony Joshua atop a Netflix boxing event on Friday…
Considering Paul had never fought anyone near the level of Joshua, and managed to out-last both Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin in his efforts, Eubank lavished praise on the prizefighter.
“Regardless of the outcome, Jake Paul got into the ring with an Olympic gold medalist and former heavyweight world champion and tried his best until the very end,” Eubank told his 444,000 followers on X, formerly Twitter.
“You have to give that man his respect now.”
“He’s done what most would never, and he didn’t give up,” Eubank said. “Well done Jake.”
Paul’s toughness and bravery came at a cost, though, as he told Ariel Helwani in the post-fight interview on Netflix that he thinks Joshua broke his jaw. He didn’t attend the post-fight interview, either, and it’s because officials instead transported him to hospital.
Before he was treated, Paul said the loss — the second of his career — won’t deter him from his dream of winning a world championship in boxing. If he is do that, it will likely be at cruiserweight, though, rather than heavyweight. As for Joshua, he will head to Saudi Arabia for a Riyadh Season event, possibly in February, before a long-awaited Battle of Britain showdown against Tyson Fury, if that fight were to materialize, as rumored.
