An “absolute triumph” of a drama has smashed records, beating Severance, Slow Horses and The Morning Show in the final days of 2025.

Severance may have been hailed as one of the standout shows of 2025, but a new contender has emerged to claim the crown.

Breaking Bad mastermind Vince Gilligan has struck gold once more with his sci-fi drama Pluribus on Apple TV+, which has garnered widespread critical acclaim since debuting last month.

Boasting an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Pluribus has been hailed as the “next great TV show”, with viewers consistently heaping praise upon it.

One viewer gushed: “Pluribus is the kind of series that reminds you why prestige TV exists. 10/10. A masterpiece.”

Describing it as a “hilarious and brilliant gem”, another enthusiast declared: “Pluribus on Apple TV is an absolute triumph.”

Yet the most thrilling development is that Pluribus, characterised as “smart, weird, bold and confident”, has now achieved a historic milestone.

Apple TV+ has confirmed that Pluribus has officially become the streaming service’s most-watched series of all time, surpassing other heavyweight titles including Slow Horses, The Morning Show and Severance.

This marks the second time Pluribus has shattered a Severance record, having previously secured the platform’s biggest drama launch, accumulating 6.4 million viewing hours during its opening week in the US alone.

The announcement was shared on X, formerly Twitter, featuring protagonist Carol (portrayed by Rhea Seehorn) celebrating with a beer whilst lighting a sparkler.

The accompanying message simply stated: “Pluribus is the most-watched show in Apple TV history. Congratulations, Carol”. The series is yet to conclude, with the eighth and final episode set to air on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26.

However, fans can rest easy as Apple TV+ has already confirmed that the drama will be back for a second season, although the exact date remains under wraps.

Pluribus centres around Carol, dubbed the most miserable woman on Earth, in a world where an alien virus has induced perpetual happiness in the human population.

Most humans are now part of this euphoric, collective consciousness, but Carol yearns for the old normal and is hell-bent on figuring out how to restore it.

Pluribus wraps up on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26, exclusively on Apple TV+.
