Footage of Jake Paul Straight After Being Knocked Out by Anthony Joshua
Far from a vintage boxing match, former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua finally managed to win the contest against Jake Paul in the sixth round in the early hours of Saturday morning and worrying footage of the American straight after he was knocked out by AJ has now emerged.
The thousands of fans who swarmed Miami’s Kaseya Centre would’ve been disappointed in the opening four rounds between Joshua and Paul, who landed a mere 16 of his 56 punches (29%) throughout the contest. Elsewhere, 33% (48/146) of the Brit’s punches landed.
It took the heavy favourite in Joshua, who bounced back from a defeat to Daniel Dubious in September 2024, until the sixth frame to show what he is capable of inside the ring, connecting a thumping right hand. Breaking the internet sensation’s jaw in the process, Paul was left in a heap on the canvas.
After the fight, the ring was quickly swarmed by members from both camps. As Joshua came to terms with the fact that he had overcome a tricky first four rounds of boxing to secure the win on American soil, Paul worked himself back to his feet and footage of the Ohio-born YouTuber emerged.
But once Joshua’s pummelling right hand connected directly with Paul’s chin, he attempted to get up but ultimately couldn’t beat the count.
Wobbling from side to side while being consoled by his brother Logan, it was at this point that Paul – nicknamed ‘The Problem Child’ – probably realised just why many people claimed he was crazy to take on the fight in the first place.
Logan stuck around in the ring to console his younger brother in the wake of defeat as the latter returned to sit on the stool in his corner. The footage is worrying given the size difference between the two fighters and the damage caused by the much bigger, and heavier, man in Joshua.
By virtue of the state that he found himself in, he was forced to skip all post-fight media obligations and Paul’s promoter and Most Value Promotions figurehead, Nakisa Bidarian, claimed that he had driven himself to the hospital to get checked out.
“We think he broke his jaw. But he’s fine. He took a shower, drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA. The recovery time is four to six weeks,” he said.
Why Anthony Joshua Was Fuming With Logan Paul After Jake Paul Fight
Security had to separate the pair…
Taking to social media in the hours following his defeat, the 28-year-old posted a picture on an X-ray, which proved that the London 2012 gold medallist had broken his opponent’s jaw in two places. That, perhaps, explains why he looked so dreary in the above footage.
“Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days,” Paul wrote in good spirit.
Paul lost by stoppage for the first time in his career and coming to terms with such a fact may be tough to take for someone looking to get their skin in the game. A match with Canelo Alvarez, though, could be on the cards after his public call-out.
Joshua Believes He ‘Deserves Criticism’ Despite Knockout Win
Asked by talkSPORT whether the negative assessment of his display against the YouTuber was fair, Joshua said: “I deserve it. Because we are elite fighters, if I put myself in the shoes of a coach, if my fighter did six rounds with Jake Paul…
“I would get him back in the gym tomorrow, give him a bit of a beating and get straight back to work. I’d be like ‘how are you letting this kid take you six rounds, are you crazy?’
“But I can’t go back in time, but credit to him, he done well. I told him what would happen but it just took six rounds to do it,” a triumphant Joshua, who called out Tyson Fury post-fight, concluded.
“If Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on some gloves and come and fight one of the realest fighters out there that will take on any challenge, step into the ring with me next if you’re a real bad boy,” Joshua said.
