Professional dancer Amy Dowden has shared an emotional update ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 final.

Tonight (December 20), will see hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman return to present the hit BBC One dance competition for the final time as this year’s series comes to an end, with rumours of a ‘farewell surprise’.

Taking to the stage will be former England footballer Karen Carney, West End star Amber Davies and YouTuber and TikTok star George Clarke, who are all vying to lift the legendary Glitterball trophy. But only one star can be crowned the 2025 Strictly Come Dancing winner.

With the Strictly final just a matter of hours away, professional dancer Amy shared an emotional message with fans, after she previously confirmed she will be returning for the grand final.

“It’s going to incredible (sic) and so grateful to be back dancing 6 weeks after a mastectomy! Can’t wait!”

The dancer has been recovering following her second mastectomy surgery, which took place back in November. The 35-year-old has been open with fans about her health after she was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2023.

She subsequently underwent chemotherapy and a mastectomy as she has documented her recovery online.

Last month, Amy revealed she would be going for another mastectomy, confirming it was not a new cancer diagnosis and so could “expect a straightforward recovery”, as the support poured in from co-stars and fans.

Fans were delighted to see the Welsh dancer back on the Strictly stage earlier in the series, however, she and her dancing partner Thomas Skinner were sent home after a dance off against Chris Robshaw and Nadiya Bychkova.

Just six weeks after her surgery, she will be returning to the stage, having previously opened up about some strict rules.

Earlier this month, Amy said in a video: “I’m definitely smiling today. After advice from my consultant yesterday, I can be a part of the routine dance this week.”

She later added: “Obviously, I can’t be lifted and I can’t be lifting. I have to take everything so gradually and at a pace, because it has been six weeks now since my surgery.”
