Thailand Honored at CITM 2025
In December 2025, Thailand was named Guest Country of Honour at the China International Travel Mart (CITM) in Haikou, celebrating 50 years of Thailand–China diplomatic relations. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) led the Thai delegation, showcasing the country’s rich tourism offerings. TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized the event’s significance in strengthening Thailand’s appeal to Chinese tourists, aiming to boost high-quality travel demand and reinforce Thailand as a top destination for visitors from China.
Strategic Partnerships and Cultural Showcases
CITM 2025, held at Hainan’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre, was a strategic platform for tourism partnerships. The Thailand Pavilion featured cultural displays like traditional Thai massage, handicraft activities, and performances, facilitating engagement with Chinese partners. Additionally, TAT organized an Amazing Thailand Networking Lunch with leading Chinese tour operators and airlines. The event highlighted Hainan’s role as a gateway for ASEAN tourism, promoting Thailand’s diverse travel experiences and fostering cooperation.
Boosting Tourism and Economic Growth
Alongside the exhibition, TAT signed agreements with local tourism authorities and Tongcheng Travel Holdings to enhance travel connectivity and strategic cooperation. These initiatives aimed to raise Thailand’s destination awareness and stimulate travel demand during peak seasons. In 2025, Thailand welcomed 4.24 million Chinese visitors, ranking second among international arrivals, driven by attractions in Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. Thailand’s participation in CITM is expected to further bolster its image and attract high-quality travelers.
