Roma are in full swing in their attempt to lure Giacomo Raspadori away from Atletico Madrid, and Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà explains where the Giallorossi currently stand in their pursuit of the Italy international and Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.
Five days ago, we revealed the potential deal involving Raspadori swapping Atletico for Roma. There have been various confirmations from various outlets since then, Now, we can say that the Giallorossi will attempt to get to the heart of the matter as quickly as possible so that they can provide Gian Piero Gasperini with his first reinforcement of the January transfer window.
Atletico Madrid have opened up to the deal. Raspadori’s minutes in Spain are rapidly decreasing: Only one start in LaLiga so far this season, and only a trivial seven-minute cameo over the weekend.
Roma will hold discussions over a loan deal with a potential option to buy, which could potentially become an obligation to buy.
It remains to be seen whether Roma will be able to pull off a deal in early January, but this is certainly a situation to monitor. As we confirmed last week, there could potentially be a double-attacking signing for Roma in January.
Zirkzee is a name that Roma like, and one that Gasperini is particularly fond of. Roma have been interested for several months, and now is the time for them to start gearing up.
Finding a solution with Manchester United as swiftly as possible will be the next step for the Giallorossi.
