Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Video Review

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 reviewed by Chris Reed on Xbox Series X, also available on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a terrific third-person shooter with a compelling story, loads of weapons that are a blast to use, and a healthy variety of enemies to use them on. It once again borrows many of its ideas from the Gears of War series, but they’re good ideas, and Space Marine 2 does a fine job of making them its own. And while the Operations PvE mode that accompanies it doesn’t currently offer enough to keep me coming back, the deep customization options for your Space Marine do look promising if it’s supported in post-launch updates as planned. Besides, when you’re eviscerating aliens on planets as pretty as these, it’s hard not to leave satisfied.

The Crow Video Review – IGN

The Crow Video Review - IGN

The Crow (2024), reviewed by A.A. Dowd. Narrated by Mark Medina.

After years of delays, a new version of The Crow has finally flown into theaters. But even with a gamely brooding Bill Skarsgård in the title role, it’s a shadow of the 1994 version – a more generically operatic superhero movie that lacks the flashy style and Gen X attitude that made the original an instant sensation with goth kids of all ages. And despite some fruitful tweaks (like devoting more time to the doomed romance The Crow is avenging), it’s not different enough to compensate for the ways it fails to match the splashy, moody dumb fun of what came before it – or, for that matter, the morbid star power of the late Brandon Lee. Maybe there’s just something futile about trying to raise this story from the graveyard of Hollywood franchises.

Monster Jam Showdown Review - IGN

Monster Jam Showdown reviewed by Luke Reilly on Xbox Series X. Also available on PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

“Monster Jam Showdown distinguishes itself from the last two decades of officially licensed Monster Jam games by actually delivering a decent, if modest, serving of monster truck mayhem. It’s a great looking, family-friendly racer that feels good to fling over giant jumps, but it’s light on track variety and crying out for a deeper career mode and customisation.”

Visions of Mana Video Review

Visions of Mana reviewed by Nick Ransbottom on PlayStation 5, Also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Visions of Mana finally brings the long-dormant classic RPG series into the modern age, looking great and playing even better thanks to multi-layered class and skill systems that interact in clever ways. There are definitely some pacing issues and a few questionable design choices later on, and the occasional framerate drop or awkward lipsyncing can distract. But the flashy and exciting combat, deeply rewarding class system, and cast of likable characters make Visions of Mana a winning comeback for the classic series all the same – and a great game even if you haven’t spent decades waiting for it.

Concord Video Review - IGN

Concord reviewed by Travis Northup on PC and PlayStation 5.

Concord isn’t the most innovative or content-heavy hero shooter you could play, but with such fantastic competitive gameplay, 16 compelling characters to master, and 12 well-designed maps, it’s got the makings of something that could go the distance in the months and years to come. In fact, it’s a testament to its FPS chops that even while it has a virtually nonexistent story and a serious need for a signature game mode, I still found myself losing dozens of hours to its PvP charms. Hopefully the live-service roadmap will do its thing and show this promising shooter the love it needs to become something truly special, but right now it’s at least good enough for me to recommend trying out.
