Kris Marshall has revealed he was thrilled to be reunited with a Death in Paradise in the Beyond Paradise Christmas special
Kris Marshall has told of his delight at reuniting with his Death in Paradise co-star Don Warrington in the spin-off series, Beyond Paradise.
Actor Kris previously starred in the BBC‘s popular crime drama Death in Paradise, set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie. His character, DI Humphrey Goodman, now features in Beyond Paradise, which follows Humphrey as he adjusts to life in Devon.
The Christmas special of the much-loved show aired this weekend and saw Humphrey reunite with Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, his former boss on the island.
Selwyn made an unexpected appearance after Humphrey’s partner Martha arranged a surprise wedding for them.

Marshall has since spoken about how much he welcomed the cameo, stating that he had “really missed” filming with Don, reports the Express.
In the episode, Selwyn showed up just as Humphrey and Martha (played by Sally Bretton) were about to get married.
“Oh crikey! Commissioner!” exclaimed Humphrey.
The Commissioner responded in his typically curt manner: “Nice of you to join us Inspector.”
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Marshall said: “I’d always particularly enjoyed my scenes with Don. I’ve also been on stage with him, in Glengarry Glen Ross in the West End, but particularly in Death in Paradise, I always found we just had such delightful scenes together.
“That’s one of the things I really missed about not doing Death in Paradise anymore, so having gone back and recreating [it] with the same sort of obtuseness… I think it intrigues Humphrey, he finds it quite wry. I’m always delighted to do more scenes with Don.”
Audiences were equally thrilled to see the return of Selwyn, a beloved character from the original series.
“I love that Martha made sure to invite Commissioner Patterson (feels wrong calling him Selwyn) to her & Humphrey’s wedding because she knew how much it would mean to Humphrey to have him there while not even bothering to invite any of his family lol,” one viewer posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.
“Brilliant, loved to see Selwyn, excellent Christmas special,” another commented.
A third viewer added: “What a lovely #BeyondParadise Christmas special tonight. Nice touch bringing Selwyn in for the wedding, it was lovely to see him. Hope he becomes a regular in the series.”
