Free mental health and wellbeing support available at Christmas

The region’s NHS is advising people that confidential services remain open throughout Christmas and the New Year to help anyone who may be struggling emotionally, feeling overwhelmed or experiencing loneliness.

“If you’re struggling this Christmas, please remember you matter – support is available.”

Eight ways to access support have been shared to ensure help is within reach for everyone who needs it.

The first is to call NHS 111 and select option 2 for urgent mental health support.

For those who prefer texting over talking, the ‘CALMER’ text line offers confidential support.

Text ‘CALMER’ to 85258 to chat with a trained mental health worker at any time.

NHS Talking Therapies are also available.
