PSG ‘Seriously Considering’ Giving Luis Enrique Special Lifetime Contract
As Paris Saint-Germain scramble alongside Lens, Marseille and the like to retain their status as the champions of Ligue 1, it’s been reported that the powers that be in the French capital are ‘seriously considering’ giving Luis Enrique a never-before-seen contract as a reward for his impressive work.
As things stand, PSG – spearheaded by the likes of Ousmane Demebele, Desire Doue and Kvhicha Kvaratskhelia – are second in France’s top division, a situation they are somewhat unfamiliar with given their dominance over the years, but just the solitary point behind the table-topping Lens.
Their relative domestic struggles come the following season after securing their first-ever Champions League crown, but their star-studded squad means that a change in fortunes can only be around the corner. On the European stage, they are currently third in the table with four wins in six.
PSG Planning to Offer One-Of-Its-Kind Contract to Enrique
Enrique has been in the Parc des Princes dugout ever since replacing Christophe Galtier back in 2023, and it’s safe to say the ex-Barcelona statesman has endeared himself to the fans. He’s led them to new and improved heights, including the above-mentioned Champions League in 2024/25.
Defeating Inter Milan 5-0 on the biggest club stage of all just proved how frightening Les Parisiens can be – and it’s largely thanks to the work of Enrique.
The Spaniard’s current deal at the club is set to expire in 2027 but PSG are keen to tie him down to a longer deal given how well things have gone up to this point. Spanish publication Diario AS has reported they are ‘seriously considering’ whether to offer him a ‘lifetime’ contract.
It’s said that PSG higher-ups are extremely happy with Enrique and the team’s improvement under the 55-year-old tactician since his appointment, thus why they’d like him to stay in the dugout for as long as humanly possible.
Journalist Jose Felix Diaz, writing for AS, wrote: “Happy and confident in his approach, he has, above all, instilled in his players a belief in the importance of hard work – a value not universally embraced – with the full support of the club in everything he does.”
Many thought that PSG would collapse following Kylian Mbappe‘s departure to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 but, if anything, their performance levels have improved tenfold and that’s evidenced by the fact they’ve been fantastic from start to finish in 2025.

That’s not to say the Frenchman was bogging them down, but Enrique has (since he left on a free transfer) prioritised the beauty of playing as a collective over individual performance.
This year concluded with a 4-0 win over Vendee Fontenay Foot in the Coupe de France, but three days before, PSG beat Filipe Luis’ Flamengo on penalties in the Intercontinental Cup. Since being appointed, Gijon-born Enrique has won 101 of his 143 matches in charge of PSG.
Inside Enrique’s Impact at PSG and Why They Want to Offer ‘Lifetime’ Contract
Enrique, widely regarded as one of the best managers in world football, is not the first elite helmsman that PSG have had at their disposal: Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel both spring to mind, but that’s without mentioning the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Unai Emery.
None of the aforementioned triumvirate, at least on the basis of what they managed to achieve with France’s biggest club, are on the same level as Enrique, who (alongside Luis Campos) has transformed PSG into one of the most exciting teams in the world.
A European juggernaut, too, you’ll be hard-pressed to single out a team more likely to win at Europe’s top table given how stacked in talent their front line is. Enrique is central to their progression – and things all fell into place after the likes of Neymar Jr and Mbappe left.
In what can be considered as a changing of the guard, perhaps, new faces such as Vitinha and Achraf Hakimi have settled in perfectly and the former Celta Vigo coach, who pockets just shy of £10 million on a yearly basis, has been instrumental to their continued success.
