Wrestling star ‘explosively pooed his pants’ but had to finish the match
Anything can happen in live entertainment, and wrestlers know that more than most.
From brutal career-ending injuries to unexpected reactions from the fans, it’s an unpredictable game when you’re out there in front of anywhere from hundreds to tens of thousands of people.
All Elite Wrestling star Kyle Fletcher, 26, exclusively told Metro about his most embarrassing moment proving the old adage ‘when you gotta go, you gotta go’.
During a match for indie company Beyond Wrestling before the pandemic, he and his Aussie Open tag partner Mark Davis were taking on Violence Is Forever in the opening match.
Kyle had an energy drink backstage before the show but didn’t get time to pop to the toilet, and a Frog Splash onto Davis and one of their opponents – to break up a pinfall attempt – went badly awry.
‘I took the entirety of the impact on my lower abdomen, and I instantly explosively pooped my pants,’ he recalled. ‘I was wearing trunks, and I was so worried that some was gonna fall out!’
It’s the stuff of nightmares – surely his tag partner had some sympathy?
‘I rolled over after that happened, and I went, “Davis! Davis! I s**t myself!” And he goes, “Shut up! Get up and do the next thing,”‘ Kyle added, revealing they had to just keep going.
‘I was just hoping and praying that no poo fell out of my trunks,’ he said. ‘Luckily, we made it through the rest of the match, and I ran straight to the bathroom, took ’em off, straight in the bin!’
It’s safe to say things have improved for Kyle over the last five years.
He’s now a global wrestling star working for AEW – WWE’s biggest competitor – where he’s a former TNT Champion, and they recently completed packed shows in Cardiff and Manchester.
He left Australia to chase his dream, after falling in love with wrestling at a young age watching the likes of daredevil Jeff Hardy.
‘This was where I always wanted to end up,’ he said of his rise to the top in AEW. ‘It feels like where I was meant to be.’
Leaving his homeland to move to the other side of the world to realise his childhood ambitions ‘just made sense’ for Kyle, whose life has been changed as he’s continued on this journey.
As well as becoming a solo star – Davies, who is healthy again now, suffered injuries which kept him on the shelf and derailed their tag team plans in AEW – Kyle also met his girlfriend and fellow wrestler Skye Blue.
‘If I had a partner who didn’t at least understand wrestling to a degree or have a love for it, it would be pretty hard,’ he admitted.
‘I’m so passionate about this, it consumes my whole life, it’s all I do with my time. Every choice I make is based around becoming the best wrestler possible.’
That’s not to say it’s easy for either of them, as they each struggle watching their life partner getting beat up in the ring.
‘Blood and Guts just happened recently, obviously Sky [was] covered in blood. That was very hard to watch,’ Kyle added. ‘I think I always get way more nerve stricken when I’m watching her wrestle.’
It goes the other way, with Skye getting worried watching her man do certain moves.
‘She’ll never put limits on it, but I think it’s better to ask for forgiveness sometimes,’ he smiled, as he admitted a moonsault is one point of contention for the couple.
‘When we first started dating, I did a moonsault, and I cracked my head on the guardrail,’ he recalled. ‘Then a couple of weeks later, moonsault, landed d**k and balls first on the guardrail, and she told me I could never do a moonsault again.’
Kyle is constantly pushing his body to its limits in the ring, but it’s clear he has no plans to slow down as he chases what even he admits could be an unobtainable dream.
‘My big goal is to be the best professional wrestler ever of all time,’ he smiled with absolute sincerity. ‘That’s what my calling has always been. And I don’t think I’ll ever stop chasing it.’
AEW returns to Wembley Stadium for All In London on August 30, 2026. Ticket details are still TBA.
