Attempted robber caught on camera in Holgate Road shop
North Yorkshire Police are investigating an attempted robbery, caught on video, which took place in a newsagent in a York suburb yesterday afternoon (December 22).
It happened at around 4.25pm at a corner shop on Holgate Road.

“A man entered the store, threatened the shop worker, and demanded they open the till. The shop worker refused and the man then left the store empty-handed,” said a spokesperson for the force.
In the video, the man is seen wearing a black puffer jacket and black tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe, covering his face in a red balaclava, and heard saying ‘open the till now’.
Police are hoping a member of the public will recognise the person in the footage his clothing, or his voice.
