Riyadh Air hits milestone with first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner test flight
Riyadh Air has reached a major milestone in the delivery of its first aircraft from Boeing, following the successful completion of the initial test flight of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The aircraft completed its first test flight, known as the B1 Flight, after departing from Boeing’s manufacturing facility in Charleston, marking the start of a comprehensive series of test flights within the United States.
These flights form part of Boeing’s standard certification and quality assurance procedures and are operated by Boeing test pilots.
Following the completion of the manufacturer’s testing programme and the issuance of official certifications, the aircraft will transition to a new phase of flight testing conducted by Riyadh Air’s pilots and flight crews.

This stage will pave the way for the formal delivery of the aircraft to the airline.
The milestone represents a key step in Riyadh Air’s fleet delivery programme as the carrier prepares to take delivery of its first widebody aircraft ahead of planned operations.
