Anthony Vipas jailed at York Magistrates Court for theft
Anthony Vipas stood in the dock of York Magistrates Court on his 43rd birthday facing a list of charges after police arrested him on a warrant.
The man of Bishophill Junior, central York, with what the court called an “appalling record” of previous convictions pleaded guilty to stealing a bicycle worth £625, stealing an electric bike worth £2,500 both in York on November 6, stealing an electric lawn mower worth £2,500 on November 30, riding a motorbike on Clifford Street, York, whilst disqualified on June 5, theft of a jacket and a bottle of fragrance from a car on York, theft of food worth £15 and theft from a car on November 30.
He was jailed for a total of 52 weeks and ordered to pay £520 compensation to the owner of the electric bike. He was also banned from driving for 39 months.
