Man Utd Eyeing Move to Sign Yan Diomande
Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, and he could be a better option for Ruben Amorim’s side than Antoine Semenyo.
GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Tuesday evening that Bournemouth forward Semenyo has chosen to join Manchester City in the January transfer window, despite a host of clubs, including United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur, showing an interest. As a result, it’s back to the drawing board for United in terms of attacking reinforcements.
United already strengthened their attacking options significantly during the most recent summer transfer window, bringing in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko. The signing of Semenyo might have been seen as a market opportunity, but they could still look to bring in reinforcements in January after a disappointing start to the season.
Diomande a Better Option for Man Utd
Manchester United are also reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig youngster Diomande, as they aim to find an alternative to Semenyo, who looks set to be joining Man City this January. The young star is believed to be at the top of United’s shortlist, despite the Bundesliga outfit slapping an £87m price tag on his head.
The signing of Semenyo would have caused a few headaches for Amorim, as fitting him, Cunha, Mbeumo, and Sesko in the same side wouldn’t be easy. With Diomande, you have a player who is considerably younger and with more of a long-term plan in mind, meaning there’s less pressure for Amorim to utilise him straight away.
Semenyo is already a regular in the Premier League and will likely be demanding the same with his next club, whereas Diomande could be a project addition.
Diomande Could Make an Impact Now
Diomande wouldn’t just be a long-term signing, however, as he’s more than capable of making an instant impact. The tricky winger has flourished in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig this season, scoring seven goals while providing two assists in 11 starts for the German outfit.
The young star, who has ‘outstanding speed’, is no doubt ready to become a Premier League player, and signing for United could allow him to take his time to learn and develop in England, rather than rushing to become an instant starter at the next club he chooses.
