Liverpool Hold Talks to Sign Karim Adeyemi
Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a move to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, and have held talks with his representatives, according to Anfield Index.
The Reds are in the market for reinforcements in the January transfer window, proven by their interest in signing Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. GIVEMESPORT sources recently confirmed that Liverpool were one of the sides considering a move to sign Semenyo, but they opted against making a play to secure his signature.
Liverpool are still likely to be on the lookout for new attacking players, with Alexander Isak suffering a significant injury against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend. A new striker could be targeted, or a versatile forward capable of playing in a central role for Arne Slot, given the recent injury to Isak.
Liverpool Hold Talks to Sign Karim Adeyemi
According to Anfield Index, Liverpool have held talks with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund forward Adeyemi ahead of a possible move in the January transfer window. The German international could be available for a fee in the region of £20m, and he’s being eyed as an alternative to Semenyo.
Adeyemi, described as ‘unstoppable’ by Como scout Ben Mattinson, has featured 10 times for Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season, scoring four goals while providing a singular assist. The 23-year-old is out of contract in 2027, meaning Dortmund have a decision to make in the near future as to whether to cash in, if they are unable to convince him to extend his stay at the club.
Better Than Semenyo: ‘World-Class’ Star ‘Will Sign for Liverpool’ in 2026
Liverpool have a more urgent deal to complete than a move for a new forward.
Adeyemi’s Versatility a Key for Liverpool
Adeyemi is a forward capable of playing in multiple positions across the front line, which could be incredibly useful for Slot heading into the second half of the season. The German star will help cover Hugo Ekitike in the striker position, with Isak out injured, while he also provides competition in the wide areas.
At the age of 23, Adeyemi is yet to reach his full potential and isn’t the finished package, so it could be an interesting, long-term project for the Reds. At just £20m, the singing of Adeyemi would be a bargain, especially in comparison to the fee being mentioned for Semenyo in the January window.
