Stellar Online Video Repair Reviewed: Strengths, Performance and Accuracy
As a content creator, your photo library is one of the most important things to keep safe and backed up. Of course, you have a backup of videos on multiple cloud services, but OS issue or storage problem can make your video unplayable or corrupt.
The risk is exceptionally high during recording or transferring, when unexpected shutdown of phone or app crashes. The last thing you want to see is a video won’t play or ‘cannot open file’ error appears, but it happens. Luckily, there’s an easy solution.
Whether it was an app-related or codec issue, video repair has sadly become something most content creators have become all too familiar with. And in severe cases of video corruption, using the paid software can become incredibly expensive. However, alternative options exist for us content creators at a fraction of the cost, and I recently got my hands on one of the best solutions in the industry.
Stellar Online Video Repair is a cloud-based tool is specifically designed for content creators or causal users to repair corrupted or damaged video of all popular file format. Being paranoid about video corruption, I had to put the software to the test.
To test the cloud-based online video repair tool, I ran three different tests. One involved repairing broken video file on Android phone, another involved fixing corrupted video on iPhone, and lastly, I attempted to repair unplayable video on Windows and Mac.
Repairing Damaged Videos Anywhere
After a quick video shoot using an Android phone, I purposely switched off the phone, so the video cannot be saved properly and got corrupted. Then, I went to web browser and open Stellar Online Video Repair website, and after that logged in to my account. Stellar Online Video Repair has a simple and clean design, making navigation easy. Upload the broken video on the tool, upload the sample video (a working video created using the same device as the corrupted video file) press “Start Repair,” and sit back and wait for the process to finish. In this instance, the software first analyze the broken video and uses the information from sample video file to successfully repair the video file. The first test was a resounding success!
Being able to preview only 10% of the repaired video files is a great additional feature in the free version of Stellar Online Video Repair tool.
Like my first test, I shot a few video in my iPhone and due to low storage video was not saved completely and got corrupted. After uploading the corrupted video and sample file created from the iPhone, I pressed Start Repair button. The Stellar Online Video Repair tool fixed the video file in no time, fully intact. Here, I was able to view the full review of the repaired file with the Premium version of this tool.
After dusting off an old hard drive with 6 or 7 damaged or unplayable videos, I decided to give it a go and see whether Stellar Online Video Repair tool could fix anything. I’ve tried with other, similar online video repair tools, and none of them provided any positive results. I was sure it was because the video was quite old and was severely corrupted. Nevertheless, I plugged hard drive in via a USB-SATA adapter connected to my laptop and uploaded the damaged as well as sample file to Stellar Online Video Repair website. Eureka! It repaired five videos, but two videos cannot be repaired. But, I expect this was due to file size limitation of 5GB as those 2 videos were of a large size. I was thrilled with the result, and for the two remaining videos, I thought of using the desktop version of this tool.
User-friendly design made for everyone
The online video repair tool is super easy to use and simple to understand. The installation process is quick, and the instructions help you scan, preview, and recover your files.
