Former England Lioness Jill Scott has revealed how Roy Keane’s viral joke on The Overlap has led to people shouting “How’s Marlon?” at her in the street.
The ex-footballer shared how she was initially confused by the comments from members of the public following Keane’s suggestive quip about her charity match encounter with former Premier League striker Marlon Harewood.
Speaking on the latest episode of Stick to Football, Scott recounted her bewilderment the morning after the clip went viral, saying: “I left the house the next morning and people were shouting at me on the street, ‘How’s Marlon?’ and I thought, ‘Who the hell is Marlon?'”
The viral moment occurred during a recent episode of The Overlap featuring Scott alongside Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Ian Wright and Keane.
Jill Scott has admitted Roy Keane’s joke has had people heckling her
Scott had been describing a charity match experience, stating: “I was playing the charity game at the weekend, and Marlon Harewood absolutely smashed us.”
After Wright commented that “he was a big old thing, old Marlon,” Keane delivered his now-infamous response: “And what was the game like?”
The crude joke prompted immediate laughter from the panel, with Neville and Scholes putting their heads in their hands.
“Roy, you can’t say that!” Wright exclaimed through laughter, suggesting it should be cut from the final edit.
Scott has now clarified that the tackle from Harewood wasn’t as dramatic as the viral moment might suggest.
“The clip went viral, but I felt bad because it wasn’t even that big a smash – not like that – it wasn’t a big tackle,” she explained on Stick to Football.
The incident gained such traction that Harewood himself became a trending topic on social media platform X.
“Please keep that in!” 🤣

Scott noted that both Harewood and his wife appeared to take the joke in good spirits, revealing: “His wife even posted about it, and he reposted it himself, so I think he was okay with it.”
Keane has since insisted his comment was made with innocent intentions.
“I honestly meant, ‘What was the score in the match, how did you play?’ Honest!” the Manchester United legend claimed.

Scott, however, was quick to challenge this assertion.
“Yeah and then I said the score was 6-7 and you were like 69!” she responded, before adding: “It was all for charity though, the football, so it’s fine.”
The exchange prompted further amusement from the panel as they reflected on their favourite moments from The Overlap over the past two years.
