Ring’s End

This is a small hamlet, located near Guyhirn in Fenland. Although it has an unusual name, it is known for its local nature reserve filled with ponds, reedbeds, and habitat for a range of diverse wildlife.

Stow cum Quy

This odd-named village is just four miles from Cambridge. The word ‘cum’ in its name is Latin for ‘with’.

Six Mile Bottom

Contrary to its name, this is a tiny village in the parish of Little Wilbraham. Under 100 people live there.

Prickwillow

Prickwillow is a small village near Ely, and is home to just over 400 people. It may not be a surprise that the sign leading into this village has been defaced a number of times.

On the border of Cambridgeshire and Norfolk is Tipps End. It is an English hamlet on the B1100 road between Welney and Christchurch.

Snailwell

Paying homage to the slimy creature is Snailwell. This village can be found in East Cambridgeshire, and is only 4km from Newmarket.

Shelford Bottom

Shelford Bottom can be found between Stapleford and Cherry Hinton, near Cambridge.

Cock Bank

Anyone may snigger at this name, but Cock Bank is a real place. It can be found in Whittlesey, near Knights End.

Another play on words with bottom, Butt Lane is a long road joining Milton and Impington.

Elm Street

It may be a nightmare to live along this street in the 1984 film with villain Freddy Krueger, but Cambridge’s Elm Street is a bit nicer.

No, this is not Manchester’s Coronation Street. Cambridge has its own Coronation Street, just off Hills Road.

Bushy Court

Keeping with a nature theme, Bushy Court in Peterborough is located just off Leaf Avenue.

No, it’s not part of the Bermuda triangle in the North Atlantic sea. This Bermuda Road is in Cambridge.
