Liverpool are interested in signing Igor Thiago from Brentford in the January transfer window, according to CaughtOffSide.

The defending Premier League champions are on the hunt for a new striker in the middle of the season due to the long-term injury suffered by Alexander Isak, and Thiago has come on their radar.

The report notes: “Another option being monitored is Igor Thiago, who has impressed with his goalscoring exploits in the Premier League this season.

“The attacker has scored 11 goals in 17 league appearances so far this season.

“Liverpool see him as a stylistic fit, but Brentford are reluctant to part with one of their key players mid-season unless an extraordinary offer arrives.”

Liverpool are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 29 points from 17 matches, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea and 10 points behind leaders Arsenal.
