Insomnia and struggling to sleep can have a serious negative effect on people. A woman has shared a “magic” sleep hack which solved her sleep struggles, allowing her to nod off in a matter of minutes
A woman has detailed the “magic” sleep hack she claims has her and her friends drifting off in mere minutes. Dealing with insomnia or a difficulty to fall asleep can be an exasperating and draining ordeal – and it can have a serious effect on your daily routine.
The NHS advises a few restless nights are typically not a cause for concern, “but it can become an issue if a lack of sleep starts to affect your daily life”. The health service also cautions that long-term sleep issues can “affect our relationships and social life, and leave us feeling tired all the time, eating more and not able to do daily tasks”.
Many turn to social media looking for advice and solutions to this frustrating battle, and when one woman shared her sleep-enhancing tips, it struck a chord with millions of people on TikTok.
In her video, which has amassed more than 8.1million views so far, content creator Olivia Hedlund shared a technique she learned from best-selling author, researcher, lecturer, and corporate consultant, Dr Joe Dispenza.
Known for his pineal gland meditation, Dispenza’s method includes specific techniques designed to encourage relaxation and improve sleep quality.
Laying in bed and talking directly to the camera, Olivia overlaid the text “sleep hack that works like magic” on top of her video.
She explained: “If you’re somebody who cannot fall asleep quickly, I have a hack that is going to change your life. I told two of my friends about it, they tried it and said they fell asleep literally instantly.
“It’s a certain breathing technique that I learned from Joe Dispenza and then I tried it before I went to bed and it works so well. It’s basically taking five deep breaths but these breaths are very specifically done.”
Olivia advised viewers to search for Dispenza’s pineal gland meditation online and continued: “You basically take a super slow inhale through your nose and you start clenching your body.
“You flex your abs and your stomach all the way up to your chest and you literally feel the breath go up your spine until I imagine it in the middle of my head.
“Then you hold it there for as long as you can and then you let it go, and you do that five times… do that five times, you’ll fall asleep immediately.”
Viewers responded enthusiastically in the comments section. One person shared: “I tried it and thought I was doing it wrong then I did it multiple times it helps!!!”
Another shared their hope: “I’ve been trying to fall asleep for the past 2hrs, this better work,” while a third said: “This worked for me actually.”
Someone else said: “Pineal gland meditation is my FAVE,” while another added: “It works. I didn’t sleep for 20 years. Then I watched Dr Joe Dispenza for about three weeks four or five years ago and now I sleep easily every night.”
