Theo Hardie, 7, has raised more than £6000 for his three-year-old brother Jude who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
He ran 100 miles to raise money for his little brother’s wheelchair and now Pride of Scotland winner Theo Hardie has cycled 100 miles to buy him a trike.
The big-hearted seven-year-old, who scooped Young Fundraiser of the Year at our glittering 2025 awards, has raised more than £6000 so his three-year-old sibling can accompany him on rides.
Upset that Jude, who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, couldn’t run around with him in the garden, Theo raised funds to buy him a tiny wheelchair so he could play alongside him.
And now, through a sponsored cycle, the selfless schoolboy has secured enough money to fund a custom-made bike for his brother.
Theo, of Falkirk, who won the hearts of the nation at last year’s Pride of Scotland celebrations, admitted he would do anything for his soulmate Jude.
He said: “Jude is my best friend, and I just want him to be able to do everything with me. I would do anything for him.
“I ran 100 miles so he could have a wheelchair that would fit him and I cycled 100 miles so he can now have a special tricycle so we can go for bike rides together. It was quite hard riding all that way but it was worth it because I’m now excited about Jude getting a trike. We are going to have so much fun together.”
Theo and Jude, who are the face of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland’s Christmas campaign, have had a lifelong bond.
Mum Taylor, 31, said: “My absolute joy is seeing Jude with his best friend in the whole world, his big brother Theo. Their bond is so special, and I love watching them together.
“When they met for the first time, it was a moment I’ll never forget. It was just love right away between the two of them. Theo has been a protective big brother from then and it has just continued.”
Taylor, who is also mum to Nico, two and five-month-old Cruz, added: “Raising money for Jude’s wheelchair and now a trike was all Theo’s idea. His dad Greg and I are just so incredibly proud of him and touched so many people donated.”
We launched Pride of Scotland 2026 last month and nominations have been flooding in. We want to hear about others like inspirational Theo who’ve made a difference to the lives of others.
Getting behind the awards, Taylor said: “Pride of Scotland was such a magical night and one our family will never forget. It was also a great platform to raise awareness of SBH Scotland, who have been a huge support since Jude was born.
“If you know an unsung hero who deserves recognition please nominate them for an award.”
Big hearts and big stars have made the Daily Record Pride of Scotland Awards with P&O Cruises, a huge success.
Famous faces who have lent support include Queen Camilla, Sir Rod Stewart, Brian Cox, Dougray Scott, Lulu, Sir Kenny Dalglish and Lorraine Kelly to name a few. The details of this year’s ceremony, which will be hosted by Elaine C Smith and Sanjeev Kohli at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central in June, will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “We can all celebrate the inspirational individuals who make a real difference across the country.”
