13 Trends People Hope Die In 2025

Did you buy a Labubu in 2025, or perhaps a Lafufu? Do you know what “chicken jockey” means? Have you seen AI “slop” on your social media feeds, or even at work?

It feels impossible to have gotten through the year without being exposed to at least one of those trends.

Even missing those won’t free you from the zetigeist – if these seem unfamiliar, you probably qualify for the very 2025 status of ‘unc’.

Not all of these have been embraced equally, however. In an r/AskReddit post, u/W-O2G asked: “What’s a 2025 trend you hope dies before 2026?”

Here are some of the most-upvoted replies:

1) “Using AI chat as a therapist/lover/friend/etc.”

“They gave Superman that haircut. Clark, to be precise,” replied u/kudlatytrue.

3) ”[Saying] ‘crashing out.’”

Still, some words of reassurance: “I’ve seen it in advertisements several times now, so that means the end is near,” replied u/Treaux-LaCount.

4) “The word ‘aura.’”

“I hate the overusage of that word,” agreed u/Electronic_Top_538.

5) “Being fake and performative is a thing that should be ridiculed, but [the word] ‘performative’ has catapulted so hard into the current conversation that it’s getting overgeneralized.”

″[It’s been] misused to describe people following fashion trends and fads.

“It’s probably had the strongest staying power yet of all the 2025 meme cycles,” replied u/Gilded-Mongoose.

9) “The use of the word ‘girlies.’”

10) “Expensive Dubai chocolate strawberry cups.”

11) “AI-generated spam flooding every corner of the internet.”

“AI slop (specifically),” agreed u/ferropop. “Not the tech – the slop.”
