Three Darlington planning decisions you should know about

The decisions cover residential conversion, a new place of worship, and changes to a commercial building.

Here are three plans decided by the council this week (December 22-26):

Proposal to convert home to shared house

A Certificate of Lawfulness for a property at 28 Greenbank Road was decided as permitted development.

The decision will allow the conversion of the single dwelling into a house in multiple occupation (HMO).

The HMO will accommodate up to six people.

The proposal, submitted under permitted development rights, was decided on December 22.

Approval granted for community centre use

The former premises of a community arts charity on Yarm Road has been approved for change of use.

The building will be converted into a place of worship and community centre.

The application was also approved on December 22, subject to conditions.

Planning permission for residential flat above restaurant

The Star of Bengal restaurant on Duke Street has received permission to change the use of its first-floor space.

Previously used for staff accommodation, the area will now be converted into a self-contained residential flat.

The approved plans include alterations to the front elevation to create a separate ground-floor entrance for the flat.

This application was also granted with conditions on December 22.
