The man also told his ex-girlfriend she was going to ‘feel pain’.
A stalker who told his former girlfriend that she was “gonna feel pain” has been sent to prison. Nigel James, 62, verbally abused his former partner and made constant jibes about her weight and clothes, resulting in the end of their two-year relationship in November 2024.
After moving out of their home in Harston, near Cambridge, James began bombarding the woman with vile messages and emails. He told her he was “gunning for her” and would “ruin her life”.
He wrote that she wasn’t safe and warned, “I have got enough weapons and tools to deal with you”. He also said she was “gonna feel pain”.
In February of this year, James sent her multiple voice messages and said “if she wanted war, she would have war”, as well as other insults.
The constant threats left the woman on edge, especially when she left work at night. She would call friends or family members for reassurance on her way home, fearing James might hurt her.
The harassment continued into March, with James threatening to “bury her”. In May, the woman contacted Cambridgeshire Police and shared the abuse, describing how James had made her life “a living hell”.
Officers arrested James and he initially denied the allegations in a police interview, until officers played back voice notes to him. James, of St Marys Square, Newmarket, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on December 22.
He was sentenced to one year in prison after pleading guilty to stalking involving fear of violence. He was also handed a restraining order.
Detective Constable William Kerslake, who led the investigation, said: “This case shows the devastating impact stalking and harassment can have on victims.
“We encourage anyone experiencing similar behaviour to come forward. We take these crimes extremely seriously and will do everything we can to protect victims and bring offenders to justice.”
