Darlington man arrested after two bikes found in van
The pair, aged 51 and 27, were taken into custody on Monday morning (December 29) after two men were spotted loading a bike into a van in Aiskew.
A resident was woken up around 3.10am and spotted two men loading the bikes into a white van, and called 999 with its registration number.
Police were then called to an attempted burglary at the Co-op store on Leeming Lane in Leeming Bar at 4am.
After being spotted by officers travelling from the Market Place in Bedale onto Masham Road, the van was brought to a stop on the A6055 near Bedale at just before 5am and two bikes were found inside.
The pair remain in custody as an investigation continues.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Witnesses or anyone with information or relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage are urged to come forward.”
