Manchester United slipped up against Wolves after a lacklustre performance on Tuesday night at Old Trafford

Manchester United failed to cement their spot in the Champions League places on Tuesday night as they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Wolves in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim’s men came into the game on the back of an impressive display against Newcastle United on Boxing Day. However, they were unable to beat a team with just two points from 18 games, missing out on another big opportunity at Old Trafford.

The draw means that since 25 November, United have failed to beat Everton, West Ham United, Bournemouth and Wolves. It leaves them sixth in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea and two behind Liverpool in fourth.

Amorim’s men are next in action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United. Here’s a look at the fixtures on the horizon for those teams competing in the top seven positions of the Premier League table;

Failing to beat Wolves has put the spotlight on Amorim and United. Prior to the game, Rob Edwards’ men had picked up just two points in their first 18 games of the season. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get any easier with a trip to Leeds United.

They then take on struggling Burnley before turning to FA Cup action. After that, it’s a tough double header against the Premier League’s top two teams in Manchester City and Arsenal.

Sunderland – 7th (28 points)

Manchester City (H) – Thurs 1 Jan (8pm)

Tottenham (A) – Sun 4 Jan (3pm)
