Arsenal Want to Sign Real Madrid Star Arda Guler in Loan-to-Buy Deal
Arsenal are eyeing an audacious move to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler on loan with an option to buy in January, according to Caught Offside.
The Gunners currently sit top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables, while they have also reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals after a tremendous campaign, with manager Mikel Arteta able to call upon one of the strongest squads in all of Europe.
But after dealing with a number of injury issues so far throughout this campaign, the north London club are keen to add even more reinforcements to the squad in January as they continue to push on all fronts to end their six-year trophy drought.
Arsenal Want to Sign Arda Guler
Guler, who earns £110,000-a-week at the Bernabeu, has been a regular in Xabi Alonso’s side this season in the Spanish capital, starting 20 of his 24 appearances so far, registering three goals and seven assists in the process.
However, Alonso’s future at Madrid is far from certain after a difficult run of results, and that could see him fall out of favour once again later in the season. That has alerted Arsenal to the chances of a potential transfer opportunity in January, and they are keen to use their good relationship with the Spanish giants to their advantage.
According to the report, Arsenal are looking at a potential loan-to-buy deal for the Turkey international in a move that would mimick the way they signed their current captain Martin Odegaard. An initial loan was turned permanent, and the Norwegian has now become a key member of the side under Arteta.
Alonso is keen to keep Guler, who has been described as ‘a mix of Mesut Ozil and Guti’ and tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner, but Arsenal may be able to offer him more regular first-team football and that could sway his decision towards a move to the Premier League over staying in La Liga.
Arda Guler Could Be a Title-Winning Signing
There is no disputing the talent that Arsenal already have in their squad, in particular in the attacking positions. But Guler’s ability to play as a winger, a number ten or even slightly deeper in midfield would make him a fantastic addition to the squad.
Ethan Nwaneri has struggled for minutes and could leave on loan, while Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus have been linked with a move away. If those deals happened, then it would free up space for a top talent like Guler to come in.
With his game-winning talent and level of experience, despite his young age, this is the type of statement signing that would help the Gunners win the Premier League for the first time since 2024, and if the opportunity arises then it’s surely one they cannot pass up.
