Juventus have decided to block Mattia Perin’s proposed move to Genoa, turning down an approach from the Ligurian club in recent hours.
Genoa had submitted an official offer for the goalkeeper and were hopeful of progressing talks, but the Old Lady have now made it clear that Perin will not be allowed to leave during the January window.
According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the decision has been communicated directly to Genoa, effectively bringing negotiations to an end.
The stance comes despite Perin having already reached an agreement in principle with Genoa over personal terms. The former Italy international had been open to a return to regular football, but Juventus have chosen to retain him as part of their squad for the remainder of the season.
The Bianconeri’s refusal perhaps reflects their desire to maintain depth and experience in the goalkeeping department during a demanding second half of the campaign, particularly with multiple competitions still in play. As a result, Genoa will now be forced to explore alternative options as they look to strengthen between the posts in January.
