Chris Hoy, 49, to make first public appearance since horror crash as he’s set to present World Darts Championship trophy
SIR CHRIS HOY will once again present the Sid Waddell Trophy to the winner of the World Darts Championship on Saturday night.
The six-time Olympic cycling champion, 49, was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in September 2023 before going public a year later.
Hoy has since been undergoing chemotherapy treatment after being given between two and four years to live.
But the legendary athlete suffered a further blow with a horrific leg break in a major cycling crash in early December.
Hoy revealed he was out riding his mountain bike when the accident occurred.
The Scot had a hard landing as he fell from the saddle.
But the icon will withstand the latest setback to attend the World Darts Championship final this weekend.
Paddy Power are donating £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 hit at the Ally Pally during the tournament – that stood at 1,002 before the quarter-finals started on New Year’s Day.
Hoy said: “Fantastic to see Paddy Power ‘The Even Bigger 180’ campaign raising over £1million so far for @prostatecanceruk at the World Darts Championship with four days to go.
“The funds raised will make a tangible difference in the fight against prostate cancer and help countless men and their families across the UK.

A year ago, Hoy presented Luke Littler with the Sid Waddell Trophy and Ballon D’Art for most 180s hit.
Before the start of the quarter-finals, Gary Anderson led the most maximums table with 40, ahead of Littler on 37.
The winner of the World Darts Championship will bag £1m – after the prize pot was doubled.
Each of the quarter-finalists already know they will pocket a minimum of £100,000.
