I like the moving blanket. Very home oriented. Keep it!

Oh no. Cables to the fans. Nope. Enterprise won’t be doing that. Way too many years of popping fans easily when one fails — maybe even while still in production if you must. Powering things down is for home gaming. They missed bad on that.

the density is mind-boggling. I remember bringing up Nehalem-EX systems (Stoutland platform, Quanta QSSC-S4R) and we had to be careful to split the power supplies across different breakers otherwise we would trip them. Those were 4U with four power supplies. Now we can do that in 1U, and there's still more CPU and memory power!

    November 2, 2024 at 6:57 am

Something not being discussed here… Gigabyte as a brand typically loses about 1% performance hit in exchange for a 5-15% lifespan longevity bonus. It's been that way on their desktop systems for almost the life of the brand, and they've brought the concept over to the server space to compete with the bigger brand names that tend to try to get you to turn over a whole datacenter every time the 3-5 year mfg extended warranty purchases run out.

Patrick: counter top protection. Get a Office floor protector (used for rolling office chairs). You can cut it to size for your counter top.

Ah. This explains all those used large capacity 2.5" drives on the market. I thought they were pulled out of laptops but some of them seem too big. Didn't realize people used them in rack mount servers too. The removable caddies on servers always reminds me of Dave Bowman removing HAL 9000's cartridges – somehow those cartridges seem too large these days – in the imagination of the late 1960s that would have been the size of miniaturized computer storage units. If they'd made the movie today the cartridges would be long, thin things the size of M.2 cards.

The true future of storage systems are composit storage drives that will use lasers and plastic drives. Data is written in a QR code format.

mini HDMI is absurd for a data center/racked server situation. If they want to move away from VGA it should be to DP. Could be full sized, could be mini, could be over USB-C, doesn't matter much. But should not be HDMI

0:48 An electrostatic discharge mat would have been more appropriate, but sure generate static electricity between the sensitive components and the blanket. It also kind of like your saying it isn't that big of a deal… I hope the warranty on your parts covers that

According to Super User, industry experts estimate that static can cause product losses of up to 33%.

EDSFF needs to become a more common standard for nvme drives, just imagine how many of those things you could fit in a 2u case if it was entirely those drives along the front

  37. @waregeeksny

    November 2, 2024 at 6:57 am

You should create a new channel named ServeTheBusiness. This is way beyond the homelab. These types of server are for high availability – hyperconvergence.

  38. @MrBoboka12

    November 2, 2024 at 6:57 am

Small appliances and switches where you do an excellent job, but this is a bad joke. You dont do crap like this! Massive storage in a server targeted for virtualization … lol… never! Go and buy a proper array for the same money. The 1G NIC is crap and is for failover only. Insert a proper 10G card.

I have some u.3 carriers that fit 4 nvme drives in each one. I wonder if it will work with this

Hey Friends!
If you’re enjoying this story, show some love with likes and subscriptions. I’ll work hard to get the next part out as soon as possible!

Video Description:In my last life, my inventions were jaw-dropping.

The power of the laser gun I made was amplified by me to 10,000 times, and a laser could easily penetrate the atmosphere.

The sniper rifle I designed was so accurate that every shot could hit the target, and it never missed.

The bulletproof vests I made were as strong as diamonds; not to mention the rockets I made, whose range was comparable to that of intercontinental missiles, amplified to 10,000 times!

When I was about to graduate from college, I had already formed an interstellar fleet, determined to help Dragon Country fight Eagle Country.

When my huge space-class mothership was across the airspace of Eagle Country, the whole world was stunned.

However, after rebirth, I went from being a dazzling genius to a lunatic in everyone’s eyes!

Because I chose a special major in light weapons engineering in college, which resulted in me and others having no common topics at all.

So in this life, I seemed to have become just a nerd that people looked down on.

Until one day, I accidentally turned on the “10,000-fold amplification” system.

This system can randomly increase the effect of my invention by 100 to 10,000 times, but the way to charge this system is to read continuously.

In order to charge, I squeezed almost all my time into books: reading when going to the toilet, reading when eating, and reading when walking!

Just when everyone thought I was completely stupid, I decided to use the superpowers given to me by the system for the first time.

I made up my mind to make a laser gun first. This time, I must reproduce the glory of my last life, keep getting stronger, and make the technological level of Dragon Country far ahead.

The design of the laser gun has taken shape in my mind, mainly divided into four modules: laser transmitter, power supply, optical path system and control system.

The power supply part can only be temporarily shelved. After all, there is not enough power supply on the market to support this energy-consuming monster. I will use a wire connection method instead.

The control system is simple, only the circuit board welding work is needed, and ten minutes is enough for me to get it done.

The optical path system has also been designed for a long time, and I just need to make it.

As for the laser transmitter, it is even simpler. The infrared lamp at the store at the entrance of the elementary school is actually a simple laser transmitter. A little modification can greatly increase the power.

Under the night, I relied on my tired body to start multi-line operation and used the grinding equipment in the laboratory to process the lenses of the optical path system.
