North Yorkshire account manager among new Traitors line-up
The 34-year-old will be joining his fellow cast members, which include a crime writer, retired police detective, barrister, poker-playing gardener, cyber security consultant, civil servant, builder and personal trainer.
Whether chosen as a Traitor of Faithful by host Claudia Winkleman, all will be hoping to take home a slice of up to £120,000 at the end of the fourth season of the BBC game show (and of course want to avoid being “murdered” or banished along the way).
Meet Sam from North Yorkshire – The Traitors series 4 contestant
Sam, who is “really silly and likes messing around” decided to apply for The Traitors because he has been the “biggest fan of the show across all the seasons”.
He added: “This show is like a breath of fresh air and authentic fun, but also a tonne of emotions, gameplay and competitiveness. It really kind of suits my character and I’m at the stage in my life now where I just want to have as many amazing experiences as possible. I applied on a whim, and then suddenly we’re here.”
The account manager shared he is a “very competitive person” who enjoys “making and creating authentic relationships with people”, but there is a side to him “which is just ruthlessly competitive as well”.
Sam revealed: “I’m hoping that I’ll be made a Traitor as I think I have all the right attributes for it. I studied languages at university, so I spent a lot of time in different countries, and I love meeting people from different backgrounds with different experiences in life. Everyone’s got a story, right? And I think I’ve got good ones to tell as well.”
He commented that if he is one of the Traitors for 2026, he would feel “so excited” and be “prepared to go all the way”.
The North Yorkshire star explained: “Of course I’d feel anxious, because I’ve imagined it so much, but it would just be a great experience.”
He added: “I have a side of me which is just ruthlessly competitive. I know it’s a game, and I also know that if the shoe was on the other foot, they would do the same to me, so I can detach myself emotionally from that situation.”
But does he have a game plan? Sam said: “My game plan is just assuming that I’m going to be made a Traitor.
“I’ve re-watched all of the three seasons recently to see exactly how the good and bad Traitors played the game.
How ‘The Traitors’ TV Show Works
“The best answer I’ve found is that the first five to seven banishments and murders are pretty much potluck.
“It’s almost herd mentality; people go into that Round Table and one person says something that people cotton onto and it becomes a domino effect.
“My game plan is very much to be in the middle, not too much on the front-foot, but still offering some opinions.
“I will then create the authentic relationships that I need to without being too cliquey, because that can also be suspicious. I’m going to play it in the middle but always be ready to be aggressive when I need to be.”

Revealing what he would spend the prize money on if he won, Sam revealed: “My wife and I want to start a family next year; that’s the biggest driver for me doing this.
“The money would go towards childcare and everything like that as the costs are astronomical now, and so the money would just remove so much external pressure for us.”
The Traitors series four airs tonight (January 1) from 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
