Colossal minibus crash confirmed with 14 Coronation Street residents facing death | Soaps
Corriedale. Two soaps. One disaster. No escape.
In the epic crossover, several unlucky Coronation Street residents will come crashing into some unfortunate Emmerdale villagers in a fatal road accident in the dead of night. The stage is set for disaster, and not everyone will make it out alive.
At least one Coronation Street villager is set to perish when the minibus driving Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) and Ronnie Bailey’s (Vinta Morgan) wedding party back to Weatherfield veers out of control.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale’s Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) are having a nightmare drive of their own as Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) takes them to the airport, pursued by Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
On the Corrie side, who dies…and who kills?
Theo Silverton
It always feels icky rooting for the grim reaper, even where soap characters are concerned. But in the case of Theo Silverton’s (James Cartwright), I don’t think Santa will put anyone on the naughty list for hoping the scowling scaffolder meets a sticky end.
For months, Theo has physically and emotionally abused his boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), isolating him from his family and friends, subjecting him to terror and humiliation on a daily basis. This toxic cycle came to a horrifying climax in Coronation Street’s special episode shot through CCTV, ring doorbell footage and police bodycams, where Todd finally screamed that he didn’t want to be with Theo anymore.
But Theo wouldn’t listen, and threatened Todd so much that his victim finally snapped… and pushed Theo into a coffee table. This resulted in Todd’s arrest. Now he looks like the abuser.
Resolved to leave Theo for good after all of this trauma, Todd confides in Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), who’d previously worked out what’s going on, at Debbie’s wedding and enlists his help in getting out safely. Driving the wedding party minibus back to Weatherfield, Billy’s more than happy to give Todd a lift.
But as the bus is ready to depart, there’s an unexpected passenger boarding at the last minute – Theo. And odds are, his face is wearing that signature glower of his. An irredeemable villain like Theo always comes with a shelf life. Will Theo’s jealousy erupt with deadly consequences…and will his rage cost him his life?

Next on the list, is Billy himself. Earlier this year, actor Daniel Brocklebank announced his departure from the show after twelve years as the priest with a murky past and a heart of gold.
Now, Billy is currently the only person aware of Theo’s true, abusive nature. And Billy will be driving the minibus. I don’t want to be a negative nelly, but has Billy given his last sermon?
Todd Grimshaw
It would be a truly heartbreaking ending for Todd if his escape attempt led to his death, but we can’t rule anything out in soap. We’re desperate for Todd to get his happy ending, but is it too much to ask?
It’s likely that Theo’s rage will reach new heights as he boards that minibus. Could the confrontation that will no doubt follow end up escalating and lead to Todd’s death, be it directly or indirectly as the minibus crashes?
Shona Platt
I hate saying this, but the spectre of death has been hanging over Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) for a while. Ever since she discovered that the only way they could bring their child to term is with potentially high risk surgery, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has been plagued with doubts and reservations about having this baby in case it means losing his wife.
Wouldn’t it just be awful if the minibus crash caused some kind of medical jeopardy that meant David lost his wife and child? But Coronation Street would never be that cruel. Not after they killed off Kylie (Paula Lane). They wouldn’t do that to David again, right? Right?!!
David Platt
David Platt himself doesn’t look exactly safe, if the Corriedale trailer is anything to go by. With Shona screaming in anguish in the hospital, it’s only fair that we feel a small twinge of fear for the Corrie legend.
Surely if they were going to kill a legend like David, they’d have to wait for a first-of-its-kind, feature-length, stunt-packed special… Hang on a second….
Swarla (or Becky or Betsy)
The mini-bus isn’t the only threat on the road. Carla Connor (Alison King), who’s been imprisoned by unhinged love rival Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) in a cupboard, is finally found by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), and the two realise that Becky is heading for Rotterdam with Lisa (Vicky Myers) and Betsy (Sydney Martin) in tow.
As the car speeds towards the port, Carla calls Lisa. When Lisa takes the call, a distracted Becky realises who is on the phone and takes her eye off the road with catastrophic consequences. #Swarla versus #Swecky has been one of the weirdest, off the wall, and altogether enjoyable love triangles Corrie has produced in some time. But hey, this crazy train had to end sooner or later.
Has Becky Swain boiled her last bunny?
Any of the Websters
With Carl driving like a maniac under the influence of way too much booze, and Debbie in the passenger seat, that’s already two Websters in trouble. But with Abi and Kevin also set to arrive on the scene, could the Webster clan be set to finally mend the cracks in their relationships after losing one of the pack?
Kit Green
Having proved himself a hero after his grand rescue of unwilling cupboard-dweller Carla, could Kit be set to go out in a blaze of glory?
We know he is set to arrive on scene and immediately set about tending to the injured, but could one misstep or misguided rescue attempt lead to his own demise?
We also know that, at some point, he puts his detective hat back on as he sets off in pursuit of John Sugden. Could he fall victim to the Dales’ sinister serial killer?
Someone else?
With a rogue’s gallery full of potential killers and a literal bus full of potential victims, only one thing is certain – it’s going to be one heck of a ride.
