Emirates suggests early check-in and use of Dubai Metro to beat heavy traffic
Emirates is advising its customers to check in at least four hours prior to departure, or use its remote check-in facilities, as the airline expects a significant increase in passenger traffic during the busy week of 2nd to 5th January.
Both inbound and outbound passenger numbers are expected to spike this week, with the school holidays ending, and also a large number of tourists departing via Dubai International Airport (DXB) after celebrating Christmas and New Year in the emirate.
Emirates is strongly recommending that customers arrive at the airport four hours ahead of scheduled departure, preparing for the likelihood of additional traffic on the way to the airport, busier carparks, and very busy terminals.
This would give enough time to check in, drop baggage, pass through Immigration and reach the boarding gate at least one hour before departure. The airline is also urging all passengers to preselect their seats and ensure all documents are valid for travel.
Emirates has also recommended other options…
Take advantage of remote check-in options: Passengers can check in at Emirates City Check In and Travel Store in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and Emirates City Check In Ajman.
The Emirates City Check In and Travel Store in ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC is conveniently located in the heart of the business district, Emirates customers can avail free parking to check in and drop off luggage as early as 24 hours and up to four hours before a flight. Customers who check in and drop luggage at this location until 15 January, will be rewarded with 2,500 Emirates Skywards Miles each.
The 24-hour Emirates City Check-In in Ajman is located in Ajman Central Bus Terminal and customers can check in remotely as early as 24 hours and as late as four hours before the flight departs.
Book the Emirates’ Home Check-In services: In Dubai and Sharjah, passengers can also opt to check in at home. Emirates’ agents complete the quick check-in process at the customer’s home, hotel, or office, and take their bags on to the flight, so that the customers can arrive later with just their hand luggage.
The service, which is free for First Class customers and Platinum Skywards members, needs to be booked at least 24 hours before a flight.
Use Dubai Metro: Emirates is also advising the use of public transport options like Dubai Metro to and from the airport to avoid road congestion.
Dubai Metro provides a fast and convenient connection to Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB), with direct access from the Red Line. Trains run frequently from early morning until late at night, and the journey offers an efficient alternative to road travel during peak traffic periods.
The dedicated Terminal 3 station is directly linked to the terminal via walkways and escalators, making it easy to reach check-in, departures and arrivals.
