New on Netflix in November 2024, including most divisive movie of the year

Netflix is going to add what could well be the most divisive film of the year in November.

The streaming service has another busy month ahead. Alongside the sad removals of key titles, there will be the release of high-profile films and TV shows, ranging from animated movie Spellbound, the next batch of Outer Banks episodes – not to mention more Cobra Kai, the acclaimed Karate Kid spin-off.

But it’s Emilia Pérez that is soon to be on everyone’s lips. The film is a crime musical drama from French filmmaker Jacques Audiard starring Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón.

The plot of the film needs to be seen to be believed – and for that reason, we’ll abstain from revealing details here. But the Mexico-set film follows a lawyer Rita who receives an unexpected offer from a fearsome cartel boss.

After its premiere in Cannes, the film received a rapturous nine-minute standing ovation – but the critics were not as certain about the end result as audience members were; Emilia Pérez has received both five-star reviews as well as one-star reviews.

Many critics agreed that, while the film’s audacious mash-up of genres should make it “a complete mess”, Audiard somehow pulls it off. However, some others, including The Film Stage, have branded it the “worst film” of the year. Find the full list of everything being added to Netflix in November below.

NB: The Independent puts this list together with help from What’s on Netflix.

Frankie and Demi Sims throw future of reality show in doubt as they return to Towie and say they’ve quit LA ‘for good’

FRANKIE and Demi Sims have thrown the future of their reality show in doubt after returning to Towie and revealing they’ve quit LA “for good”.

The siblings, who shot to fame on the ITVBe programme in the 2010s, made the move over to Los Angeles in 2022 for their OFTV reality show, House of Sims.

But things went south when they fell out with their big sister Chloe, 43, which resulted in the younger sisters fleeing back to the UK.

They’ve now rejoined Towie‘s cast, with the duo confirming they have quit Los Angeles “for good” in a scene from last night’s episode.

In the clip, Harry Derbidge couldn’t contain his excitement at seeing Frankie, 29, and Demi, 28, walk into a nightclub.

He exclaimed: “This is the best surprise in the world.”

Frankie announced: “We’re back in Essex for good,” prompting Elma Pazar to gasp: “Shut up!”

Frankie added: “We’ve done a year in LA, and it was enough time to sort of see what it’s like living out there and working out there.

“But it just comes to a point where we were like, ‘Let’s go home.’ You just want to be with your friends and family.”

Harry chimed in, “Yeah, and you’ve got so much life here as well. Like friends, family, best thing in the world.”

House of Sims, which is currently two seasons in, stars Demi, Frankie and Chloe, as well as their brother Charlie and his fiancée Georgia Shults.

But, back in January The Sun revealed a secret feud between Chloe, Frankie and Demi, which resulted in the youngest sisters moving back to Essex.

Joey Essex’s cousin Demi Sims hints she’s secretly SPLIT with Love Island girlfriend as she sets her sights on All Stars

Speaking exclusively to us in July, Demi seemed optimistic about her return, saying: “We’re just on our break at the moment.

“We’ll probably start filming at the end of the year.”

When asked if she’ll move back to US for it, Demi added: “Possibly, possibly.

“We’ll have to figure it out. I’m not sure, we’ll figure it out.”

Back in April, Chloe confirmed the future of the show.

“We’re just about to go into preproduction for series three, when I go back,” she told us.

When asked at the time if her sisters would be on the show, she said: “Yes, of course.”

However it appeared that they still hadn’t reconciled over their argument.

Chloe explained: “We’re not actually at the moment, but we’re all apart of House of Sims, so they’ll be on it.

“But what will go down, I don’t know.”

A source told us in January: “Chloe’s fallen out with her sisters big time.

“They’ve gone their separate ways after a huge fight broke out in LA, where they’d been filming the show.

“Chloe’s decided to stay out there while Frankie and Demi have left her and headed back home to Essex to pursue their own careers.”

It was also revealed that Chloe threw a drink in Demi’s face during an argument.

The siblings – who are the cousin of Love Island‘s Joey Essex – all shot to fame on ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex.

Chloe joined the show in 2011 and their brother Charlie became a regular in 2013 and left in 2015.

Demi hit our screens in 2018, followed by Frankie in 2019 – and they all left in 2022.

Demi, Frankie and Charlie share the same parents, Chloe has a different mum to them.

I’m a Celebrity 2024 line up ‘revealed’ ahead of ITV launch

I’m a Celebrity 2024 line-up ‘revealed’ ahead of ITV launch show

The full line-up for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! 2024 has been “revealed”.

The ITV reality show has been on the air since 2000, with winners including Tony Blackburn, Stacey Solomon, Jill Scott and last year’s victor Sam Thompson.

In recent years, I’m a Celebrity has been plagued with controversy for signing up two controversial politicians: former health secretary Matt Hancock in 2022 and Nigel Farage in 2023, which appeared to lead to a downturn in ratings.

It seems like bosses don’t have anyone quite so contentious waiting in the wings this time around, with The Sun claiming to have discovered the identity of every star joining the show later this month.

Below are the 12 stars “revealed” to be taking part in this year’s series

Coleen Rooney

Coleen Rooney has reportedly signed up to appear on this year’s series. The wife of former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is said to have secured the biggest deal in the show’s history, which would surpass that of Farage and presenter Noel Edmonds with a fee of over £1.5m. “I’m a Celeb bosses have pulled off a huge coup getting Coleen for the jungle this year and the team are thrilled to have her on board,” a source told The Sun. “Coleen has a huge fanbase and she won massive plaudits for her classy handling of the Wagatha Christie case. She’s excited to show fans a different side to her and prove she can survive without her creature comforts.”

Tulisa Contostavlos

Tulisa Contostavlos

One of this year’s biggest stars is said to be N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos, who was also once a judge on The X Factor. An insider suggested to The Sun that Contostavlos’s booking was inspired by a recent N-Dubz tour, which “introduced her to a younger generation, especially through platforms like TikTok”. They added: “Tulisa’s diverse career makes her a strong contender for I’m a Celebrity because she appeals to a wide audience. ITV is particularly excited about her new following among 16 to 24-year-olds, and hopes the deal is finalised soon.”

One Loose Women star who is reportedly poised to follow in the footsteps of fellow panellists Janet Street-Porter, Frankie Bridge and Charlene White is Jane Moore, who first appeared on the ITV panel show in 1999. he has been a regular panellist since 2013 and is rumoured to be up for entering the jungle following a split from her husband of 20 years.

Oti Mabuse is a former Strictly Come Dancing professional, appearing on the BBC series from 2015 to 2021. She won the series with both Kelvin Fletcher and Bill Bailey, and appeared on Dancing on Ice as a judge after leaving Strictly.

Reverend Richard Coles

Reverend Richard Coles, the media personality and former vicar, who was once a member of the band the Communards, will – according to The Sun – be a campmate on this year’s I’m a Celebrity. A source said: “Rev Coles will have a variety of tales to tell from his wild days as a pop star in the Eighties, through to performing on Strictly Come Dancing and his later life as a man of the cloth.” Earlier this year, Coles described his time on Strictly as “brutal” amid a behind-the-scenes scandal.

Dean McCullough

Northern Irish BBC Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough has reportedly been tapped to appear on this year’s series. He started presenting for the station in 2020, standing in for Clara Amfo, and in September 2022 he replaced Scott Mills and Chris Stark, alongside Vicky Hawkesworth, as hosts of Radio 1’s afternoon show.

Alan Halsall

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs, had an I’m a Celebrity near-miss in 2023. He was rumoured to be a part of the line-up but was reportedly forced to withdraw after suffering a knee injury; the photo he shared of himself from his hospital bed essentially ruled himself out of appearing. It’s a likely bet, then, that Halsall has been drafted in for the new series.

Danny Jones

It’s been claimed that McFly singer Danny Jones is following in the footsteps of his bandmate Dougie Poynter, who won the show in 2011, by entering the jungle. While it seems like a long shot considering Jones is not short of work – he’s currently a judge on ITV singing competition The Voice – a source told The Sun he is being offered a lucrative amount to appear on the show.

The radio DJ and TV host is believed to be entering the jungle this year. In the past he has presented shows on Kiss and Radio 1, and his presenting stints include the BRIT Awards, MOBO Awards and The Xtra Factor.

The second Loose Women star being tipped to join I’m a Celebrity this year is influencer GK Barry. She became a swift favourite to appear after it was reported she had withdrawn from participating in Strictly Come Dancing due to the rehearsal room scandal that hit the BBC show earlier this year. Barry – real name Grace Keeling – would be a hit with the youngsters considering she has a huge following on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

Shortly after it was claimed Tommy Fury had withdrawn from the series, another Love Island star’s name was thrown into the mix: Maura Higgins. Higgins is one of the ITV2 reality show’s best-loved contestants, having appeared on series five in 2019. A source told The Sun: “With Tommy Fury pulling out, it gave show bosses the opportunity to look at other Love Island stars and Maura stood out as the perfect candidate.”

Barry McGuigan

According to The Mirror, Irish boxer Barry McGuigan will be entering the jungle, replacing McCoist. A source told the outlet: “Barry is a bona-fide sporting legend and he’s a great person to have heading for the jungle. When he rose to fame in the 1980s as the WBA featherweight boxing champ he became a non-sectarian ambassador. He fought for both Ireland and Great Britain and was loved and respected on both sides of the divide. There’s not many who can say that.”

An ITV spokesperson told The Independent: “Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation.”

It was reported on 1 November that former Rangers footballer Ally McCoist backed out of an appearance – for a second time – having been signed up by bosses weeks ago. His departure follows that of Love Island star Tommy Fury, who also dropped out of the show weeks before it was due to begin.

Who is Tommy's dad in EastEnders? Moon family tree explained

TROUBLED teen Tommy Moon has been involved in some shocking storylines on EastEnders.

Despite calling Alfie Moon “dad”, he is not his real father. Here we take a look at the life of the person who is his birth dad.

Born on December 30, 2010, Thomas “Tommy” Moon is Kat Slater‘s son on EastEnders.

The character has been played by four different actors and, since 2021, Sonny Kendall has had the role.

Tommy’s father is Michael Moon – played by actor Steve John Shepherd – who is Kat’s ex-husband Alfie Moon‘s second cousin once removed.

Tommy was conceived when his mum had an affair with Michael while her husband was in jail.

When the child’s real father wanted nothing to do with him, Alfie adopted him and has raised him as his own.

Baby swap

Shortly after his birth, Ronnie Mitchell snatched Tommy.

It came after she discovered her own son James had died of sudden infant death syndrome.

In a moment of madness, she swapped her baby for Tommy, leaving Alfie and Kat to believe their son had passed away.

After the truth came to light, and her baby was returned to her, Kat struggled to bond with her son.

Michael’s murder

Michael later married Janine Butcher and together they had a daughter called Scarlett.

Infatuated with Michael, Alice Branning, who was Scarlett’s nanny, agreed to murder Janine for him.

When she found out about the plot against her, a huge row broke out, with Michael attempting to strangle Janine.

Seeing what was happening Alice stabbed him in the back, and when the police arrived Janine continued to repeatedly stab him.

Despite Janine blaming Alice, no one was found guilty of his murder.

John Oliver fights back tears as he shares Trump-Harris result hope day before US election

John Oliver fought back tears while sharing his hopes for the result of the US election.

The 2024 presidential election is drawing to a close after a chaotic few weeks that saw Donald Trump widely mocked for a series of viral stunts and many celebrities come forward with their endorsements, including a rather surprising choice from former Republican politician Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On the latest episode of Last Week Tonight, the British-born comedian Oliver, who became a US citizen in 2019, focused his attention on the election with just one day to go, officially revealing he will be voting for Kamala Harris.

He told viewers: “Elections alone aren’t efficient for large-scale change, but they’re absolutely necessary for it to ever happen. Because it’s the day you essentially get to choose who you’d prefer to be pushing for the next four years and where you’ll be pushing them from.”

Oliver grew emotional as he continued: “Look, I love this country. I’m an immigrant. I chose to be here. In the words of the late, great Lee Greenwood, ‘I’m proud to be an American.’ And I’d argue there is nothing more American than having a healthy, adversarial relationship with those in power, even if you voted for them.”

While Oliver usually uses his show as a means of lampooning Trump, his speech showed the comedian in rare serious form as he said he believes a loss for Trump would mean he is “done”.

“I know he would put us through hell before he left the stage, but when the dust settled, he’d have lost two elections in a row and would be campaigning as an 82-year-old next time,” Oliver said, adding: “I think he’d be done – and doesn’t that sound great?”

He added: “I know, the problems that he’s a symptom of would of course remain, but we wouldn’t have to deal with him anymore. Wouldn’t it be great to live in a world where he’s no longer an active threat, just an annoyance?”

Oliver said that he “so badly wants to live in that world”, stating: “I hope everyone does everything in their power in the next 48 hours to make that world possible.”

Horror fans go wild as ‘one of the best’ vampire thrillers lands on Netflix - 15 years after its release

HORROR film fans have been delighted to discover one of their favourite films is now available on Netflix.

The film 30 Days Of Night has now been added to Netflix, and despite the film coming out 15 years ago it’s proved a huge hit with viewers.

Starring Josh Hartnett, it focuses on a lonely Sheriff named Eben Oleson who is distressed to learn vampires are real – and they have targeted the isolated Alaskan town he has been assigned to defend in the Arctic circle.

Labelled as ‘the best vampire movie’ by fans, it’s proved to be a huge hit and is winning over new viewers thanks to its violence and gore.

Film fans have shard the news the vampire classic is now on Netflix, by posting in the Netflix Bangers Facebook group.

One film fan wrote: “This is one of the best vampire movies I’ve seen, absolutely loved it!”

Another shared: “Great movie, need to watch it again…”

“”It’s one of my favourites,” said a third.

When the movie was first released in 2007 it won rave reviews and took over $75 million (£58 million) at the box office. The film was so popular it also launched two spin off sequels, including a TV mini series.

Speaking about the release at the time, lead actor Josh Harnett told BlackFilm: “I grew up watching vampire movies and don’t think that there’s been an interesting look at the vampire genre in a long time.

“But the real reason I wanted to do the film was because of director David Slade’s vision.

“He came [to me] and laid out [his vision of] what the movie wanted to be like. And it seemed completely different from anything that I’d ever heard of before. Visceral and dark but something that’s also artistic.”

He continued: “He always wanted to use very little score, but to have the score rattling and weird. Brian Rice is an amazing composer. He’s always done art film, independent films up until now.

“David comes from the independent film world. And producer Sam Raimi has a real tongue-in-cheek approach to horror which makes this one obviously different, so if you’re going to trust anybody as far as the genre of horror goes… I think he’s read the novel from cover to cover.

“I just thought it was going to be an interesting project, and there were some great actors who came on too–Ben Foster, Danny Huston, Melissa George–all great people to work with.”

Strictly’s Chris McCausland admits he was ‘down’ after thinking he made huge mistake during Saturday’s show

Chris McCausland has reflected on feeling down after believing he made a huge mistake during his Strictly Come Dancing performance during Saturday night’s show.

The comedian and his professional partner Dianne Buswell received a score of 29 for their Tango to “Rock and Roll All Nite” by KISS, but McCausland believed he had made a big mistake during the routine.

During Sunday night’s results show, which had been filmed on Saturday, McCausland and Buswell were saved from the dance-off despite being bottom of the leaderboard.

When asked by host Claudia Winkleman about how he was feeling during an interview segment, McCausland said he was “trying my best” but seemed dejected despite receiving the welcome news he was still in the competition.

Writing on X/Twitter after the interview aired, the comedian confessed he was feeling “down” on himself after thinking he had made a mistake during the routine.

“If I’m honest, I was quite down on myself in that interview clip straight after the dance that was on the results show tonight because I thought I had made a pretty big mistake,” he told fans on Sunday (3 November).

However, McCausland said he was feeling better when he realised he hadn’t made a mistake.

“I realised later that I hadn’t. I’m feeling good,” he said. “Thank you for all of your support!”

One fan reassured McCausland that fans love watching him dance each week, and that he gave a brilliant performance on Saturday night.

“Chris, you’re doing amazing and we love watching you dance. Don’t be so hard on yourself,” one fan said.

“I think you don’t realise how good you are. Believe it, you really are sooo good,” said another fan, as one added: “Please don’t give yourself a hard time – you are doing absolutely INCREDIBLE work and are genuinely indistinguishable from the other dancers.”

Saturday’s episode saw the dance couples compete in the first ever Icons Week, dancing to songs by legendary musical acts such as The Beatles, George Michael, Bruno Mars, Queen, Madonna and Shirley Bassey.

The episode featured a very high standard of dances with the top scores of the week going to Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec and JB Gill and his replacement partner Lauren Oakley, who stepped in for the ill Amy Dowden, with both couples scoring 39 points each.

In the dance-off were hockey player Sam Quek and her partner Nikita Kuzmin, who danced an American Smooth to Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”, opposite  Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe, who performed their Waltz to “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

Ultimately, Quek was eliminated after a unanimous judges’ vote.

Her elimination follows the exit of Dr Punam Krishan, footballer Paul Merson, Toyah Willcox, Nick Knowles and Tom Dean, who all left the competition in its earlier stages.
