Bolton police stop 30 vehicles in icy roads operation

Officers had been out in force in Deane, Daubhill and Hulton over the morning of Friday January 2 checking passing vehicles for the correct documents and licences.

They say this has become even more important with colder weather and icy roads posing dangers to drivers’ safety.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers from the South Neighbourhood Team have carried out a traffic operation this morning, aimed at keeping roads safer for everyone.

“Officers stopped 30 vehicles as a part of proactive checks, focusing on document and licence compliance and driver behaviour and safety.

“Thanks to the operation several offences were identified, advice was given to multiple drivers, and positive action was taken where required.

“Whilst the weather is getting colder and roads are becoming icy, ensure that you take extra care in checking your vehicle before departing for journeys, for you own safety and for others.”

Anyone with any further information or concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, members of the public can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
