The RNLI and Coastguard arrived at the scene after being alerted following a 999 call.
Three people have been rescued by lifeboat after they were cut off by the tide on a tiny island in the Firth of Forth.
The group dialled 999 when they realised they were stranded one mile out to sea on Cramond Island just after 11am this morning, Friday, January 2.
The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway – but the tide came in after the trio arrived in the area.
The RNLI Queensferry inshore lifeboat went to the scene and brought the trio back to shore at Cramond Village, the coastguard confirmed. South Queensferry Coastguard Rescue Team also attended.
The three people were back on shore by around midday and were said to be safe and well after the incident.
The coastguard has advised people to check tide times before crossing the causeway to the island.
