Several vehicles stuck north of Pickering due to snow

Police have said they are dealing with several reports of vehicles stuck due to snow and ice north of Pickering.

They added conditions on the roads around Goathland in particular are extremely difficult, while Wheeldale Road is impassable, and now closed.

A spokesperson said: “Our officers are attending the location in police 4×4 vehicles, and working hard to ensure everyone is safe.

“Please avoid this area. The conditions are treacherous, and bear in mind that mobile phone coverage may be poor. If you’re travelling in the North York Moors area tonight, consider finding alternative routes, or postponing your journey. Thank you for your assistance.”
