West Ham Ready Bid to Sign Charlie Cresswell

West Ham United are preparing a transfer bid for Toulouse and England U21 defender Charlie Cresswell, according to reports.

The London Stadium side are looking to further bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad following a busy start to the January transfer window, with three attacking arrivals potentially on the cards.

West Ham confirmed the arrival of Brazilian striker Pablo Felipe on Friday and have agreed a deal for Lazio star Taty Castellanos for a fee of around £25m.

The Hammers are also pursuing a deal for Wolves star Adama Traore, who could reportedly reunite with Espirito Santo on a short-term deal.

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham are preparing a transfer proposal for Cresswell as they continue to look for signings that could turn their disappointing season around.

The London Stadium outfit currently sit third-bottom of the Premier League table, having taken just three points from their last seven games under Espirito Santo.

With their defence struggling in particular, conceding the second-most goals, West Ham are eyeing Cresswell as a player who could provide a significant boost to their backline.

The ‘excellent’ Preston-born defender has been a key player for Ligue 1 side Toulouse this season, playing every minute of their league campaign and scoring three goals.

West Ham are believed to have monitored Cresswell throughout the season with ‘half the Premier League watching’ and are preparing to launch a proposal, although Toulouse will be in a strong negotiating position, with the England U21 defender under contract until the summer of 2028.

Raheem Sterling Wanted on Loan

West Ham could look to bolster their attacking options even further this month as they hold an interest in signing Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling.

The England winger has yet to play a single minute of Premier League football this season and is seeking to depart Chelsea permanently this month.

As GIVEMESPORT revealed earlier, Sterling would only entertain a loan move if it included an obligation to buy, meaning West Ham would likely have to commit to a permanent transfer if they were to secure the forward this month.

Although West Ham are doing everything they can to back Espirito Santo with new signings in January, failure to turn the season around over the next several games could eventually cost the Portuguese manager his job.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, West Ham have not ruled out changing their manager for a second time this season amid their precarious Premier League position, with former boss Slaven Bilic being considered for a shock return.
