Met Office snow and ice alert for York and North Yorkshire
The Met Office alert runs for 24 hours from midnight on Monday (January 5).
Roads in York could be affected by the predicted scattered snow showers and icy patches with the potential to affect local train services, the UK weather agency said.
It added that some “small accumulations” of snow are expected, but some places but may see as much as eight centimetres fall.

Lightning and gusty winds could also be a problem, particularly for those on the coast.
As reported by The Press, the North Yorkshire coast has been inundated with snow showers since Friday afternoon and these are moving further inland, the Met Office said.
It added that the risk of ice will continue into Monday evening as temperatures drop below freezing.
The yellow Met Office warning follows a health alert upgrade for York and North Yorkshire.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued an amber cold-health alert from 8pm on December 31 until 10am on Tuesday, January 6.
