Channel 4 developing groundbreaking new game show which will change contestants' lives forever

A NEW “game show” is being developed where contestants make a variety of life decisions based on the rolling of dice.

The programme, which is currently untitled, aims to help people whose problems making decisions are holding them back in life.

A new ‘game show’ is being developed where contestants make a variety of life decisions based on the rolling of dice, like in The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart

The experiment, which will probably air on Channel 4, looks at what happens if choices are based on a random process, and draws on two popular books covering the same theme.

An insider said: “It follows an idea that has been explored previously, in The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart where a character makes daily decisions based on the casting of a die.

“Or Danny Wallace’s book Yes Man, where he answered affirmatively to every proposition put to him and observed the often unpredictable outcomes There’s also the concept of flippism, which is based on deciding things depending on flipping a coin.

“Whatever method is chosen, it’s all about what happens when decisions are taken out of our hands and determined by something else entirely.

“At this stage it’s just a pilot, but the concept is so intriguing it stands a good chance of making it to a full series.”

Production company Five Mile Films has put out an appeal for contestants, who can apply as individuals or as pairs.

It asks the question: “Stuck in a rut? Want to change things in your life but don’t know where to start? Want to be braver, more decisive?”

“We are making a pilot of a new TV series where participants use dice to make all their decisions big and small.

“If you think you could be getting more out of life then get in contact.”

Now, if that doesn’t make you want to apply for a TV show, nothing will . . .

Gavin a laugh, Alison

ALISON STEADMAN and Larry Lamb are regarded as one of sitcoms’ most lovable parents, as Gavin & Stacey’s Pam and Mick Shipman.

But like all couples, they are prone to the odd row – including the time Larry swore at his on-screen wife for delaying filming because she had a fit of the giggles.

Alison has revealed she struggled to shoot a scene because she could not stop laughing and the entire segment had to be delayed.

In her new book, Out Of Character, Alison explains: “It must have gone on for at least 20 minutes.

“The director Christine Gernon said: ‘OK, we’re going to give everyone a break now to give Alison the chance to sort this out’.

“Larry, who is the epitome of patience, even ended up saying to me, ‘For God’s sake, Alison, just say the f**king line will you’.”

SKY is offering up their own Bob Ross-style art classes as Masterclass launches on December 2.

The series will be hosted by the artists from the channel’s latest Portrait Artist Of The Year, teaching easy techniques with a portrait lesson from judge Tai-Shan Schierenberg.

Gary: I’m no wine expert

TAKE THAT star Gary Barlow is about to kick off his new series about wine – but he doesn’t want anyone to think he’s an aficionado.

The singer/songwriter fronts Gary Barlow’s Wine Tour: South Africa, which will air every day next week on ITV1 at 2pm.

Gary said: “I just wanted to approach this as someone who is trying to learn about it all.

“And hopefully we show the audience that they don’t need to feel too daunted by wine.”

I bet the series won’t do sales of Gary’s own wine range any harm, either.

Hard man Nath

NATHAN STEWART-JARRETT plays a former criminal desperate to escape his shady past in Disney+ series Culprits.

But there was one thing the actor could not escape from while filming – the gym.

He said: “I opened up the script and it said ‘muscle’ on the first page, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no’. I got the part and they marched me to the gym! I lived in that gym.

“I ate whole cows and coops of chickens and eggs. It was really hard. But to be able to pick grown men up was incredible – I loved it.”

Culprits will also be available to stream on ITVX from December 19.

Fergi flogging scripts

EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has revealed that she’s selling scripts from the BBC One soap to “put a roof over her head” after being “overlooked” for acting roles.

She played Heather Trott on Albert Square from 2007 to 2012, when her character was killed off.

Room for Rose

TAKING over from Greg Davies on Junior Taskmaster had its perks for Rose Matafeo – not least because she got to sit on the famous throne.

The comic has also been tempted to makeover her home with set pieces.

Rose joked: “Sitting in the Taskmaster throne, it does change a person – power does crazy things to the mind.

“It was weird realising it’s not going to be Greg’s face on the art, it will be mine. I did think I could take those . . . and have my face around my living room.”

Junior Taskmaster returns on Friday at 8pm on Channel 4.

Yellowstone: When is season five back and will Kevin Costner appear?

The end is nigh for the Duttons. Yellowstone has become a culture-dominating, ratings smash hit since it first arrived on our screens back in June 2018, but now the final season is almost here.

The first half of the fifth and final season of the Taylor Sheridan-produced show about ranchers in Montana aired in November 2022, with the premiere episode bringing in a staggering 12.1 million viewers.

We already know that Dutton family patriarch, John Dutton III, played by Kevin Costner, won’t be present in the new episodes. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t have an impact on proceedings. Here’s everything you need to know about Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2:

When does the new season of ‘Yellowstone’ come out?

Paramount have confirmed that the second part of Season 5 will premiere for viewers in the United States on Sunday, November 10 at 8pm ET/PT.

For international viewers, the show will premiere on Paramount+ in Canada on November 10 before arriving in the UK on November 11.

Air dates for Latin America, Brazil and France have not yet been announced.

How can you watch ‘Yellowstone’ when it airs?

In the United States, the episodes will initially be broadcast on the Paramount network at 8pm ET/PT.

CBS will then rebroadcast it at 10pm ET/PT.

New episodes will be available to stream on Peacock after they’ve aired on Paramount.

They will not be available on Paramount+ in the US, although this is the home of spin-off shows such as 1883 and 1923.

International viewers will be able to access new episodes through Paramount+.

How many episodes are left?

There are six episodes in the second part of Season 5, meaning that the series finale will air on Sunday, December 15.

Kevin Costner in ‘Yellowstone’

Why won’t Kevin Costner be in the final episodes of ‘Yellowstone’?

In February this year, Yellowstone was left shaken by reports that behind-the-scenes drama between Sheridan and Costner had led to the actor’s departure.

However, it wasn’t until June that Costner ruled out ever returning to Yellowstone, telling fans he couldn’t continue with the show.

In a video post shared to his Instagram, which he captioned, “An update for you guys. I’ll see you at the movies”, the actor, who had just released his own Western saga, Horizon, at the Cannes Film Festival, explained his decision.

“I want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love, I just realised that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5B or into the future,” he said.

“It was something that really changed me. I loved it. And I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning and I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop and I’ll see you at the movies.”

What’s next for ‘Yellowstone’?

While Yellowstone will be coming to an end, Sheridan isn’t done with Montana. He recently announced that Michelle Pfeiffer is set to lead the forthcoming Yellowstone sequel series, The Madison. The new series will follow a family of New Yorkers who relocate to the Madison River valley in central Montana. It is set to deal with themes of grief and human connection.

A release date for The Madison has not yet been announced.

EastEnders legend flogs £15 tickets as she performs at Chinese restaurant after struggling to land acting work

EASTENDERS fans can treat themselves to a slap-up Chinese meal and a performance from one of the soap’s legends – all for £15.

Cheryl Fergison, 59, is flogging tickets to the Cheryl’s Special £15 Weekend in a bid to make cash after failing to land acting gigs.

The price of a ticket includes a sweetcorn-based starter, a meat curry, sweet and sour rice or green peppers and black bean sauce.

Diners can also feast on rice, chips or noodle sides, all while enjoying a two-hour singing session from Cheryl.

Cheryl has taken to social media and shared a menu to the special event, which will run this weekend at Great Fortune House in Thornton Cleveleys.

One excited fan replied: “We’re coming, can’t wait! How do we book?”

Another added: “Don’t walk, RUN!”

And a third gushed: “Sounds stunning Cheryl!”

This is the third money-making scheme Cheryl – who played hapless Heather Trott in EastEnders – has come up with this month.

She has also been flogging her decade-old scripts to generate some cash, charging fans £50 a pop.

Fans of Minute Mart employee Heather also have to pay £5 postage if they want to buy one.

EastEnders fanatics can even snap up signed pictures from Cheryl’s time in Walford at a cost of £5 plus postage fees.

However, a TV insider warned: “Cheryl attempting to sell the script could see her in hot water with bosses at the Beeb and EastEnders as legally she may not own the copyright to the material.”

Cheryl’s scrabble to make money comes after she admitted she is desperate to land more acting work to pay the bills.

In an honest social media video, she said: “What I want to put out is the terrible misconception by the general public that we are all rich.

“That is far beyond the truth. I’ve been out of EastEnders for nearly 13 years, in fact more than that I left in 2012.

“I’ve done jobs in between and I’ve done panto, I’m doing it this year but the jobs are kind of like… they’re continuous, they’re not like being in a soap all the time.

“Unless you’re someone like George Clooney or an A-lister American star that gets millions for their films, it’s very difficult – in inverted commas – to be rich.”

EastEnders facts and figures

THE beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades.

EastEnders follows the lives of the residents of Walford as they navigate love, loss, family drama, and community struggles.

Here’s the latest on:

Cheryl – a mum-of-one – went on to explain that she has to ‘keep a roof over their heads’.

“Some people don’t understand that like everyone else we have bills to pay, rent to pay,” Cheryl added in the TikTok clip.

“We have to keep everything ticking and sometimes people, like myself, have to cover jobs.”

“People say, ‘Oh are you not acting anymore, you not doing it anymore’ and they fail to realise we still have to keep a roof over our heads and keep the bills being paid so we will do any job to kind of keep that going.”

Cheryl made her first appearance as Heather Trott in EastEnders in June 2007.

But the George Michael fanatic and Shirley’s best friend was brutally murdered by Ben Mitchell in April 2012.

Ben whacked Heather with a picture frame, which sent her falling to the ground and hitting her head on the kitchen counter.

The teen, who was played by Joshua Pascoe at the time, was later jailed for his crimes, despite dad Phil attempting to cover it up.

Kellyanne Conway thanks The View hosts for Trump’s historic victory

Longtime Republican strategist Kellyanne Conway has facetiously thanked The View hosts for inviting Kamala Harris on the talk show last month, suggesting that her appearance benefited Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

Speaking on Fox News on Election Night, the former Trump advisor criticized Kamala Harris’s campaign, saying: “When the Democrats take a look at this candidacy, it’s not going to be that she had too much time, not enough time, she’s just a flawed candidate. She doesn’t speak well; she doesn’t work hard.

“I’m not being mean or partisan. I don’t know why the country would’ve rewarded this candidate with a big job when she couldn’t make the case for what she does as Vice President that affects our lives in a positive way. She was given the opportunity,” Conway, 57, said.

“I personally would like to thank the women of The View tonight for asking those questions, for having her on,” she said, adding: “Oprah, we see you,” referring to her previous sit-down interview with Harris.

“People thought they were doing her a favor because they made her something she’s not. It’s the opposite for Trump. They make him something he’s not – take that one word, take that one line, cherry-pick this,” she said.

Last month, Harris, 60, appeared on the ABC daytime talk show to answer questions from hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Ana Navarro about her campaign.

During the episode, she detailed how her presidency would differ from Joe Biden’s current presidency, and also reacted to Maya Rudolph’s spot-on impression of her on Saturday Night Live.

“She is so good,” Harris said of the actor. “She had the whole thing – the suit, the jewelry, everything!”

Harris’s time on The View came amid an influx in media appearances during the final month leading up to the election. She also sat down for interviews on 60 Minutes and the popular Call Her Daddy podcast.

Despite her attempt to sway voters into electing her as the first female president of the US, former president Donald Trump triumphed to become the first convicted felon to take office.

“I will fight for you, for your family and your future. Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve, and that you deserve,” Trump said after the race was called.

Pledging that his second term would “truly be the golden age of America,” he thanked the American people for the “extraordinary honor.”

MAFS viewers say they're starting a petition to BAN clothing item worn by bride Polly

MAFS viewers have said they’re starting a petition to a ban a clothing item worn by bride Polly.

On Wednesday night’s episode of the show, Polly, 28, and Adam, 33, headed out on their final date together, and as they strolled outdoors, Polly could be seen wearing a pair of jeans with slits down each side.

The side slits revealed the bride’s legs, and it’s not the first time that Polly has been in this look.

But fans on social media were quick to share their thoughts on the jean design, with many fans saying they weren’t a fan.

One person penned: “I am fully aware that I have been wearing the same jeans for about 75 years, but I hope Polly has binned those awful jeans with the huge split seams.”

A second person added: “Those are some awful jeans – I don’t understand them?”

A third responded: “I think we need to start a petition to ban the flappy open jeans.”

Another MAFS fan wrote: “Polly please bin those jeans,” and someone else penned: “Polly can’t have actually wanted to pay money for those jeans.”

After the episode, another bride shared their support for the jeans and wore some for a photo shared to their social media.

Bride Lacey whacked on a pair of the open slit jeans and wrote to fans: “Girlys I got you!!! Had a few messages regarding my jeans!

“They have a split in them, they are so comfortable and I got so many compliments, link below!!”

Watch shock moment MAFS UK’s Polly rips into Adam as blazing row kicks off on final date – in huge clue only ONE couple will make it to final episode

Fashion to one side, Polly and Adam’s date didn’t go as planned as the pair ended up having a blazing row in the episode.

After the couple cheered to “us and to the future“, things quickly went south when the careers advisor told her ‘husband’ how she was really feeling.

She fumed: “I feel like you’re not giving me what I want..”

He shot back: “Rather than sit there and go, ‘I care about you…’ before she interjected, ‘That’s what you do.’

But the barber wasn’t having it, raging in tonight’s finale, ‘That’s not what I do!’”

He added in a piece to camera: “The old Polly is slowly creeping back.”

As the ending of the hit dating show nears, there are just four couples left in the experiment – Nathan and Lacey, Adam and Polly, Amy and Luke, and Sacha and Ross.

In Married At First Sight tradition, the couples will each face the final vows where they’ll decided whether or not to stay together.

And The Sun can exclusively reveal that during final vows next week, two couples will decide to stay together while two will split.

The Sun will keep the identities of which two couples break up a secret, so as to not to spoil the surprise for viewers.

Bethenny Frankel slams Kamala Harris for ‘hobnobbing with celebrities’

Bethenny Frankel has criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for spending too much time “hobnobbing with celebrities” during her failed presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

The former Real Housewives of New York City star, 54, said she felt the tactic was not successful with the American public.

In a video posted on her Instagram the day after the election (November 6), Frankel said: “This was the most divisive election that I can recall in my lifetime, the stakes felt so high on both sides, people couldn’t have an opinion.”

She continued: “It’s been like that for a while, but it felt more crystallized here. You couldn’t have an opinion, regardless of who you were voting for. You couldn’t say either candidate didn’t do something you didn’t like… something that wasn’t a good business practice.

“Or something that was in poor taste, you just couldn’t do it,” the Skinnygirl founder said.

“I genuinely did not think that aligning with celebrities is and was a good idea. I don’t think the American public by and large care about who is hobnobbing with celebrities, it’s the forbidden fruit, it’s tempting, it’s right there, it’s the shiny object.”

The reality star, who also appeared on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, continued: “I don’t think its a working model, I’m allowed to have that opinion.

“I thought there were mistakes on both sides but when I expressed an opinion, regardless of who I was voting for, I was attacked on both sides and attacking each other and fighting in the comments.

“We live in a democracy and the people have spoken, the decision has been made,” she concluded. “The country has to come together.”

Throughout the 2024 election campaign, Harris received broad support from celebrities, including Leonardo Di Caprio, Jennifer Aniston, and Beyoncé. While Trump had fewer celebrity endorsements, he did receive the backing of billionaire Elon Musk and the influential podcast host Joe Rogan.

In the wake of Trump’s victory yesterday, many celebrities have taken to social media to respond to his reelection.

Days after calling out Musk for his Trump support, horror author Stephen King shared his views in what he deemed his last post on X/Twitter. “There’s a sign you can see in many shops that sell beautiful but fragile items: LOVELY TO LOOK AT, DELIGHTFUL TO HOLD, BUT ONCE YOU BREAK IT, THEN IT’S SOLD. 'This is MAD' declare Shetland fans as new BBC crime drama kicks off with dramatic opening scene

SHOCKED Shetland viewers have branded the show “mad” after it returned to the BBC with a very dramatic first scene.

Crime fans were left on the edge of their seats within the first two minutes of series nine kicking off.

The first episode began with DI Ruth Calder, played by Ashley Jensen, sitting in a kitchen while wearing a coat and scarf.

Seconds later, it was revealed she was looking down the barrel of a gun, held by a mad man called Malcolm Kidd.

DI Calder asks him: “Do you not think we should cover him up, eh?

“Let’s give your brother a bit of dignity.”

With the BBC drama already reaching fever pitch, the camera suddenly revealed a dead man lying face down in a pool of blood.

Fans couldn’t believe their eyes, with many flocking to social media to share their shock.

One viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Well that’s some opening, right into a mad scene.”

Another added: “Not bothering with the slow build up then?”

And a third chimed in: “An interesting opening for Shetland tonight!”

As the episode unfolded, viewers learned that the dead man was Malcolm’s brother Andrew Kidd.

Malcolm shot him in the head with a gun, with it emerging that Andrew had been sleeping with his fiancée.

Shetland is now in its 9th series, having first hit the small screen in March 2013.

Ashley took over the lead role from Douglas Henshall in series 8, after he bowed out of playing DI Jimmy Perez since the first episode.

Last week, Ashley told The Sun’s TV Mag that a 10th series of the crime drama has also been commissioned.

The actress said: “I thought, I can’t afford to think, is this going to run for another series or another series or whatever?

“I just thought six episodes of a self-contained show and that’s great.

“So to be commissioned for two series on the back of that with seven point something million viewers was great.

“It was huge. It was a real positive.”

Shetland series guide

By Conor O’Brien

Crime drama Shetland debuted on BBC One back in 2013. With over a decade under its belt, here is a look at the show’s journey so far.

Douglas Henshall led the cast in the first seven series, playing DI Jimmy Perez. However, the actor’s departure from Shetland was announced in 2022.

In his place, Ugly Betty alum Ashley Jensen took over, playing newcomer DI Ruth Calder.

  • Series One: Ederly Shetlander, Mima Wilson is found murdered. DI Pérez and the team suspect the murder is linked to the Haldane family (to whom Mima was related) and the Shetland bus.
  • Series Two: DI Pérez and the team investigate the murder of teenager Catherine Ross. Along the way, they find links to local recluse Magnus Bain – and a seven-year-old’s unsolved disappearance two decades earlier.
  • Series Three: A young man disappears on a ferry crossing and a small boy ends up in intensive care after overdosing on Ecstasy. DI Pérez and the team become convinced the two events are linked.
  • Series Four: Convicted murderer Thomas Malone returns to Shetland, prompting DI Pérez and the team to reopen a 23-year cold case. That case concerns Lizzie Kilmuir, who had been found strangled to death in a lime kiln. However, things take a turn when a local journalist is killed, in apparently a copy of Lizzie’s murder.
  • Series Five: After severed parts are discovered on a Shetland beach, the victim is determined to be a Nigerian man who’d been looking for his sister. However, the investigation leads Pérez to suspect the murder has ties to a human trafficking ring.
  • Series Six: A local lawyer is shot dead on the day of Pérez’s mother’s funeral. The team focus on two of the lawyer’s case – but are impeded by a teenager running a crime blog.
  • Series Seven: In Pérez’s final series on Shetland, the run starts as he is cleared of wrongdoing by the police tribunal. In his final act, Pérez lets an innocent man – who had been due to be executed for allegedly killing an American citzen – go free while he resigned from the police.
  • Series Eight: DI Ruth Calder, who grew up in Shetland, takes over Pérez’s old role. In one of Calder’s first cases, a young woman flees to Shetland after witnessing a police informant being murdered by hitmen in London.

The Ugly Betty and Extras star added that she was “very much thrilled” to be continuing in the show.

Meanwhile, returning regulars include Steven Robertson as Detective Sandy Wilson and Lewis Howden as Sergeant Billy McBride.

Harry Potter actor Ian Hart has taken on the role of Euan Rossi in Shetland’s new series.

Shetland airs on BBC1 and is available on iPlayer.
