A New Orleans judge ordered actor Shia LaBeouf to return to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and set a $100,000 bond on Thursday. That comes after the film star was charged with two counts of battery over an alleged assault outside a bar during Mardi Gras.

Orleans Parish Criminal Court Judge Simone Levine called him out for allegedly yelling homophobic slurs while hitting multiple people near the French Quarter. The police report said LaBeouf dislocated one victim’s nose. Shia LaBeouf now has to submit to weekly drug tests, including one on the spot in the courthouse.  He agreed and his attorney said the test did not show illegal substances in his system. Judge Levine said the episode was a concern for “the safety of this larger community, especially relative to a marginalized community that has gone through so much terror,” referring to the LGBTQ+ community.

“This defendant does not take his alcohol addiction seriously,” Levine said. “This court does not believe he understands the level of seriousness when it comes to these allegations.”

Jude Levine ordered LaBeouf to stay away from the victims and the bar where the fight occurred.

The judge denied a request by Shia LaBeouf to travel to Rome in March for “religious observations, including his father’s baptism.” Levine said during the hearing that she was concerned whether LaBeouf “could handle his alcohol.”

“Frankly,” LaBeouf’s attorney Sarah Chervinsky told the judge, “being drunk on Mardi Gras is not a crime.”

Man Shia LaBeouf Allegedly Punched Previously Spoke Out

Jeffrey Damnit previously told The Associated Press that LaBeouf repeatedly punched him and used homophobic slurs while threatening his life. Damnit said he believed LaBeouf had targeted him because he wore makeup and eyeliner.

“This guy wants me to be dead because I wear makeup,” Damnit said. “It’s a screwed-up thing.”

The judge released Shia LaBeouf without bond within hours of his arrest on Feb. 17. She said on Thursday that she had not previously had access to a police report that said the actor allegedly used homophobic slurs as he returned to a bar. He also hit people with a closed fist after being asked to leave. Videos of the altercations have surfaced showing LaBeouf striking multiple people.
After LaBeouf was released from custody, the actor was seen in the French Quarter dancing in the streets on Mardi Gras.

LaBeouf posted bond and declined to comment to reporters. He has not yet formally entered a plea to the charges.

“No, I won’t say a word,” he said in a court hallway while returning from taking a drug and alcohol test before the judge’s order. “God bless you, leave me alone.”

Delivery Turns Deadly Outside Hospital

According to the Chicago Police Department, 28-year-old Daniel Figueroa was found unresponsive outside Loretto Hospital around 2 a.m. on Monday after completing an Uber Eats delivery. Authorities say that after dropping off food for a doctor at the hospital, Figueroa walked back outside and discovered his delivery van was being stolen. Surveillance footage reportedly captured him attempting to stop the theft before he was dragged nearly half a block. Police said he was fatally struck by his own vehicle as the suspects fled the scene. He was transported to another hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Arrest Made As Search Continues For Other Suspects

Investigators later arrested 33-year-old Montoya Perry in connection with the incident. She was charged with murder and vehicular hijacking and remains in custody without bond ahead of her next court appearance. Authorities have not released details about the other two individuals — reportedly two men. Furthermore, they were allegedly involved in the carjacking, but no additional arrests have been announced.

Working Two Jobs, Gone Too Soon

Figueroa’s girlfriend, Sandra Guerrero, shared that he had just completed a shift at Amazon before starting his late-night Uber Eats deliveries. She described him as a hardworking man who took care of her and her young son as if he were his own. Loved ones say he routinely worked two jobs to make ends meet and had simply been trying to support his family when the tragic incident occurred.

While officials have not publicly released a detailed cause of death beyond confirming he was struck by the vehicle, the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify and apprehend any remaining suspects.

The Golden Age of prestige television started when Tony Soprano first walked into Dr. Melfi’s office, but the groundwork for The Sopranos was laid a decade earlier. On September 16, 1984, Michael Mann introduced the world to Miami Vice.

So much of the 80s style and culture can be traced back to the series’ impact, from the cars to the men’s wear, but its lasting legacy has been to show that, at its best, television can be better than the movies. And it’s thanks to Phil Collins. 

The Greatest Drums In Music History

Before Miami Vice debuted, television was considered secondary to movies. On the big screen, fans could see larger-than-life stories and characters, such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Jaws, which were reserved for cinema. Television was where stars who couldn’t make it in the movies went. You could tell by the vast difference between their budgets. Even the best-looking television series looked inferior to the movies, until that is, Michael Mann turned a TV pilot into a music video. 

“My Brother’s Keeper,” the pilot episode for Miami Vice, set the stakes for the rest of the series to follow. Crockett (Don Johnson) is coping with the loss of his partner when he’s paired up with Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) in an undercover sting to take down the ruthless drug lord, Calderone (Miguel Pinero). It’s standard police procedural stuff today, but in 1984, it was a new level of grit and darkness under the flashy exterior of cool cars, bright lights, and designer shades. 

No sequence summed it up better than the ending, when Corckett and Tubs get in their car to confront Calderone while “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins starts up. Shots of the car going down the road, the two detectives are silent as each is lost in their own thoughts, and then Crockett gets out of the car to place a phone call. All episode, he’s been bothered by his relationship with his estranged wife, but she picks up, and he asks a simple question: “It was real?” 

As he hangs up, the drums kick in. You know exactly what drums. And right there, Miami Vice arrived, and television has never been the same. Over 40 years later, and guys still blast “In the Air Tonight” while driving around at night. 

A Movie On A TV Budget

The Miami Vice pilot was a two-hour television event, which is why the production team pulled out all the stops to make it a hit. Licensing music wasn’t common back then, and not only did “My Brother’s Keeper” use “In the Air Tonight,” but it also included “Miss You” by The Rolling Stones, and “Somebody Watching Me” by Rockwell. Recognizable music was the key ingredient to turn stretches of the episode into music videos.

Beyond the soundtrack and award-winning cinematography, Miami Vice was a breath of fresh air for its dark, cynical tone. Sonny Crockett was a cop on the edge, watching his life slowly fall apart around him, while Ricardo Tubbs didn’t only want to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of Calderon, he was consumed by it. This was a far cry from the sunny shores of Hawaii 5-0, or the cheese of Cagney & Lacey, Hart to Hart, and The A-Team.

Miami Vice didn’t look, sound, or play out (the villain wins) like any of its contemporaries. By the time “My Brother’s Keeper” came to an end, the bar for success in television was raised to a nearly unattainable standard. Dark heroes were in, licensed music was expected, and grittier storylines replaced the fairytale endings.

Actress Isabel May is starring in Scream VII as Sidney’s daughter Tatum, a role that puts her character in the vicinity of her famous mother and therefore in danger from Ghostface. May isn’t a stranger to playing characters whose lives are in danger, as she was also the star of the Daily Wire thriller Run Hide Fight. Between the Scream movie and recent news events, this 2020 film about a high school shooter has resurfaced on social media.

Run Hide Fight is about an angry teen named Zoe Hull, who is still grieving the death of her mother, making things not so good at home with her ex-military and outdoorsman father, Todd. Typical teenage concerns abound: prom is coming up, and Zoe’s friend Lewis wants to ask her to it, while Vernon Central High School is having its “senior prank day,” resulting in rooms filled with balloons and a sloped hallway doused in vegetable oil.

But the joke is over when four of Zoe’s classmates, led by psychopath Tristan, ram into the school in a giant white van and start shooting. He and his friends aren’t just out to kill their classmates, but also to livestream it on social media and become famous. Zoe manages to escape detection, but can a single 17-year-old girl save an entire school?

Die Hard In High School Doesn’t Cover It

The movie has been described as “Die Hard in a high school,” and that’s a fair assessment of its basic plot, but it sells short the intricacy and psychological warfare that is woven into the script by director Kyle Rankin. Various powers collide as the hostage situation unfolds, as the school’s administrators and teachers, the police, the media, and the students themselves scramble to deal with the crisis in various ways. There is so much going on in this movie that I took three pages of notes to write this review.

While there’s plenty of action, it’s not really an action movie but a thriller. Zoe is on a hero’s journey that includes her own grief as she talks to her mother, played by Radha Mitchell, throughout the hostage situation. Tension is high even when characters are just talking to each other, because you never know when someone with a gun might burst into the room. The movie’s plot moves through the phases suggested by its title and mirrored in the phases of Tristan’s plan.

Zoe is also not invincible. She’s a scrappy teen, not a Navy SEAL, and she takes some injuries as she tries to help her classmates escape. Unlike John McClane, she’s not looking for a fight; she’s looking to survive, and all she has is her wits. She is also suffering: her mother appears as a hallucination whose appearance documents Zoe’s grief. Isabel May puts on a wrenching performance, not just in her dialogue but in her expressions of deeply conflicting emotions in the face of terror.

With so many characters and so much going on, the action is emphasized in short, staccato scenes that allow the plot to unfold organically. It has the frenetic pacing of up-to-the-minute news, creating a livestream effect that underscores Tristan’s plan, but it also knows when to slow down, giving us time to care about the characters and their survival. Treat Williams, who plays the sheriff managing this crisis, dominates almost all his scenes with charismatic energy.

Great Writing Makes Run Fight Hide a Must-See

Daily Wire+ has a mature warning on Run Hide Fight because of violence, but we are only given enough violence to emphasize the severity of the situation. These scenes are very impactful, especially as the students are forced to livestream the carnage and Tristan’s posturing. The technique of using phones to record for social media is always present, as it connects all the characters inside the school to the police and parents outside the school.

The true strength of this movie lies in its script, which doesn’t shy away from its numerous themes. There is humor in the dialogue, and the characters are fleshed out well. The film draws viewers enough into the school that it’s easy to triumph when they do and to be afraid for their survival. The threads of plot and theme are so well executed that they wrap the story into a neat package, from its cold open to its chilling resolution.

It is difficult these days to write a story about school shootings, and you’re not supposed to enjoy that, though that’s what’s happening during this one. The script never asks for it any more than Zoe asks to be a heroine. That makes it all the more worth watching.

Run Hide Fight is Isabel May’s first dramatic role and paved the way for her to star first in the Yellowstone spin-offs and now in Scream VII. Even though she plays a teenager, this movie marked her transition from teen roles to more mature ones. Many people ignore or dismiss it because it is a Daily Wire production, but Run Hide Fight represents a successful early effort by the streamer to create quality fictional content.

The undisputed champ spoke on her love life via an Instagram post on Thursday (Feb. 26). She included multiple photos of her Pap, namely from events leading up to and after her recent boxing match. Shields also shared footage of her boyfriend helping her train. One image showed Pap with his hands wrapped around her waist, standing on the beach and planting a kiss on his lady’s cheek. Another photo showed her cheesing while holding a bouquet of roses. However, it was her caption about their “invincible Black love” that had fans feeling the fairytale vibes!

What’s Tea With Remy Ma And Papoose’s Divorce?

Before this new “invincible Black love” came along, the internet was obsessed with the “IT couple” energy Papoose and Remy Ma shared. They became a symbol of “Black love”and a visual representation of a man loving his wife unconditionally, particularly during the six years she spent in prison. By 2024, though, cheating rumors had started surfacing on the internet with eyes mainly on Remy. That December, as said, she blasted Pap on social media, and dragged Claressa Shields into the marital mess. The fallout led to insults being thrown on the internet between the estranged married folks and the new girlfriend. The shade went on for several months, though on-and-off. By May 2025, Pap told the world that he had already filed for a divorce and Remy claimed, “Everything is signed and ready to go.” 

However, as of December 2025, the estranged former couple were still not divorced. That was revealed during an interview on ‘The Breakfast Club’ with Claressa and Papoose. Shields sparked heavy online backlash after she weighed in on her man’s unfinished divorce. DJ Envy, during the interview, told Pap that he desires to see him and Remy Ma fix their friendship. Claressa responded, saying it takes time and urging people to let his past go. She made similar comments on the same show back in May 2025.

“That takes time. It’s a divorce. It’s not something that just happens overnight, but people life don’t stop because of that. It’s papers, it’s time, it’s stuff that gotta happen, but at the end of the day, we move forward with our lives,” Claressa said. Then, Pap jumped in, adding, “Like I said, I wish her the best..” Claressa agreed with, “Yeah, for sure.”
