The funeral will be followed by a service at Wear Valley Crematorium, in Coundon (DL14 8PE).

The family has requested family flowers only, with donations to St Cuthbert’s Hospice welcomed.

To maintain Shannon’s wishes, family and friends are being asked to follow a dress code she requested: “all black like my soul”, with no colour.

After the services, family and friends are invited to celebrate Shannon’s life at Tindale Crescent Working Men’s Club, in Bishop Auckland (DL14 9SS).

Following Shannon’s death her sister-in-law and best friend, Chelsea Hauxwell, paid tribute.

She said: “You could never be morbid or down anywhere near her. She would always make jokes and she had an infectious smile. I’m glad she never lost her sense of humour.”

Shannon’s warmth extended beyond her family to her work at The Manor House care home. Her family said the care worker devoted her days to helping others.

The family said everyone who knew and loved Shannon is welcome to attend the service.

The funeral details say: “Please join us to remember her, share your memories and celebrate her beautiful life.”
