Perhaps Ridley Scott‘s greatest impact on the landscape of cinema has been on sci-fi, with his genre-defining masterpieces Alien and Blade Runner. That’s not to dismiss what the four-time Oscar nominee has accomplished outside the genre, though. He conquered the historical epic with his classic film Gladiator and created a gripping war movie with 2001’s Black Hawk Down. His ideas aren’t always successful, but he’s consistently managed to marry large-scale, ambitious thrills with deeper themes of identity, corporate greed, and political corruption.

In 1997, Scott would apply this same approach to the Demi Moore-led war action thriller, G.I. Jane. The film tells the fictional story of Lieutenant Jordan O’Neill, a topographical analyst who is suddenly selected to be the first woman to train in a special forces program akin to the U.S. Navy SEALs. Facing extreme sexism in a gruelling program she was set up to fail, she strives under her unfairly punishing commander, John James Urgayle (Viggo Mortensen), to break her limits and shatter the expectations placed on her by the institution around her. Critics and audiences were divided about the result, and it was met with a more middling $98.4 million box office against a budget of $50 million, yet it has since gotten a bit more love by some as a flawed film that was still ahead of its time in its message. Moore herself has been a vocal defender of the story for how it challenged gender norms, telling Vanity Fair in 2024, “I think the film really holds up. I hear it a lot from people. I think that Ridley made a really thoughtful, intelligent film that really tackled the subject matter.”

Now, nearly three decades later, Peacock is giving subscribers a chance to revisit the film and judge it on its merits. G.I. Jane is due to arrive on the platform on March 1, alongside a wide range of big new additions, including Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Beekeeper, and Friday the 13th. In addition to Moore and Mortensen, Scott’s film also featured the talents of, among others, Jason Beghe, Scott Wilson, Anne Bancroft, Morris Chestnut, and Lucinda Jenney. Riddick and The Fugitive scribe David Twohy penned the script with Danielle Alexandra, who wrote the story.

Demi Moore and Ridley Scott Will Be Back in Theaters in 2026

Moore was last seen on the big screen in 2024 with The Substance, an instant horror classic that nearly won the actress her first Oscar and powerfully tackled the pressures women face about their bodies, particularly as they grow older. After returning to Landman for Season 2 last year, though, she’ll be back in theaters in three months on May 22 with Boots Riley‘s latest film, I Love Boosters. Scott also has a busy year ahead, with his new film, The Dog Stars, led by Jacob Elordi, set to release on August 28. Adapted from Peter Heller‘s novel, the film is set in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic that has devastated humanity, as a pilot named Hig (Elordi) and his gruff marine companion (Josh Brolin) live in relative isolation, until a mysterious transmission gives them hope of finding other survivors.

Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez’s wedding didn’t exactly go off without a hitch.

According to Blanco during his Thursday, February 26, appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Gomez was left in tears after misplacing her handwritten vows less than a week before the couple were scheduled to tie the knot.

“She was crying because she couldn’t find [them],” Blanco, 37, told host Jimmy Kimmel, explaining the vows were “lost” for about four or five days.

Blanco ultimately saved the day by finding the vows just in the nick of time, he told Kimmel.

“I found them, right before the wedding!” he said. “I didn’t look. I closed my eyes and handed them to her. I swear! I swear I didn’t look.”

The music producer then joked that discovering the important lost item made him look like a hero to Gomez, 33.

“But how good is it? It made me look so good,” Blanco said. “It was like the best thing I could have done. I’m about to marry her and then I find the thing?”

Gomez married Blanco in late September 2025 in a star-studded ceremony held in Santa Barbara, California.

“Everyone there was sobbing, and it was extremely emotional,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly of the pair’s nuptials at the time, adding that Gomez “bawled her eyes out” when Blanco recited his heartfelt vows. “The wedding was pretty simple and not your typical ‘celebrity’ lavish wedding.”

According to the insider, Gomez and Blanco “just wanted to dance and have fun” throughout the evening. The source added, “You could feel so much love from them.”

The couple publicly shared the news of their engagement at the tail end of 2024 after more than a year of dating.

“Forever begins now,” Gomez captioned an Instagram post on December 11, 2024, which contained an image that showed off her engagement ring.

For his part, Blanco celebrated the relationship milestone by writing in the comments section, “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”

In February 2025, Blanco and Gomez gushed over one another while speaking with Interview magazine for its Valentine’s Day issue.

“You know when you think you met the right person, you’re like, ‘Oh my God.’ But it feels so different,” Blanco told the outlet. “The second we started hanging out, I was like, ‘This is my wife.’ I was telling my mom, ‘This is the girl I’m going to marry.”

Blanco explained in the interview that their yin-and-yang personalities complement each other.

“It’s so good because I get her out, and she calms me down when I need it,” Blanco gushed. “She’s the first person that I’ve been with where I’m like, ‘I don’t even give a f**k what’s going on. I could sit in this bed with you for 72 hours and feel like I didn’t miss anything.’ She’s like my f**king heroin and Xanax combined.”

Gomez added that she was the first one to fall head over heels while spending time with Blanco.

“It was really simple. We got in the studio to work on a song and we just talked; that’s how easy it was for me. I liked him before he liked me,” she said.

While Friends will forever be how the world knows about Courteney Cox, the Scream franchise is surely a close second. Since 1996, the actress has starred in seven nail-biting slasher movies, including the latest, Scream 7, which is coming to theaters on February 27, 2026. But while those two projects from Cox have received worldwide attention, one of her past TV shows only reached a smaller, yet equally dedicated cult following instead.

From 2009 to 2015, Cox was the lead in Cougar Town, an ABC-turned-TBS series created by Shrinking‘s very own Bill Lawrence. The series, which holds an impressive 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, is a hidden gem in comedy, packed with hilarious stories, an endearing cast of characters, and Cox in one of her best roles to date.

What Is ‘Cougar Town’ About?

Cougar Town follows Cox as Jules Cobb, a divorced realtor who starts to dabble with the idea of dating younger men, hence the title. Soon after, however, the series quickly abandoned that plot, and became more about the wonderful, quirky friendships and family dynamics rather than actually an exploration of age-gap relationships. That was especially the case when the show focused on Jules’s will-they-won’t-they with Grayson Ellis (Josh Hopkins), who is roughly her age.

So, much like how Shrinking isn’t only about therapy or the loss of a loved one, and is more about the friendships the main characters have along the way, Cougar Town hits that same sweet spot. Among Jules’ inner circle is her sarcastic and razor-sharp best friend Ellie (Christa Miller), and the bubbly Laurie (Busy Phillipps). Together, the three of them are explosive onscreen. While Miller had a laid-back, sardonic approach to comedy that perfectly contrasted with Cox’s high-strung, anxiety-ridden Jules, Philipps brought an even more kinetic, spirited energy. Different in their own way, the friend group, which is complete with Jules’ son Travis (Dan Byrd) and Ellie’s husband Andy (Ian Gomez), is funny, believable and impressively grounded for a comedy series.

‘Cougar Town’ Sees Courteney Cox at Her Best

While Cox was certainly a big part of making Friends and the Scream as successful as they are, her role in Cougar Town is her best to date. With the leading role all to herself this time around, the series showcased her range more than Friends ever did, and she’s the driving force of the series from beginning to end. With that comes incredible chemistry with each of the characters, like her steamy connection with Grayson, her maternal side with Travis, and the TV magic between her and Miller’s character. For her role, Cox got the award recognition she’s long deserved, including her first Golden Globe nomination in 2010 and her first Critics Choice Award in 2011.

So, while Cougar Town was never a ratings mega-hit, the six-season comedy series is a must-watch for Cox fans, either from Friends or Scream. The series, in addition to being heartwarming, wholesome and hilarious, allows Cox to shine, and puts her comedic chops in full display. It’s a series that never exploded like Friends, but has slowly but surely won over fans and cultivated a cult following ever since, and every new viewer of the series will surely understand why.
