Samsung Sees Operating Profit Tripling to Record on Surging Memory-Chip Demand
Samsung 005930 0.14%increase; green up pointing triangle Electronics expects its fourth-quarter operating profit to have tripled to a record as a semiconductor shortage and surging artificial-intelligence-driven demand sent chip prices sharply higher.
The world’s largest memory-chip maker has been benefiting from a surge in semiconductor prices over the past year amid increasing AI adoption and as companies pour billions of dollars into AI infrastructure. The bulk of Samsung’s profits once came from smartphones, but its semiconductor business has become a major cash cow since the second half of 2025, accounting for more than half of earnings.
