County Durham drag queen Tess Tickle joins Channel 4 show

Tess Tickle from Ferryhill, County Durham, will feature alongside Moffatt in the documentary Can You Make £10k in 10 Days?, which explores the world of side hustles and fast-track money-making schemes.

“We’re best friends, Scarlett and I,” Tess said.

“And we have never worked together before in the 12 years we have known each other.

“When she asked me to be a part of it, I was over the moon.”

The show, fronted by Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special’s winner Scarlett Moffatt, will test a range of side hustles to see how much money can be made with minimal effort.

The project marks the duo’s first on-screen collaboration since becoming friends.

Tess said: “It’s really exciting. When I got the phonecall to come over [to Scarlett’s] I couldn’t believe it.

“A local drag act on the TV is great, and to be working with the Queen of the Jungle is great too.

“There are so many creative people in the North East, and I would love to see more representation on TV. Seeing drag representation as well is great, especially in the current climate.

“Being a drag queen and having celebrities champion us is just amazing.”

The one-off programme will see Scarlett and her team of ‘busy Brits’ try out different ways to generate income, assessing each scheme for how much cash it can generate and how easy it is to do alongside regular life.

Viewers can expect to see hands-on experiments with everything from selling crafts and second-hand goods to digital money-makers such as dropshipping and print-on-demand.

Tess’ involvement comes after a wave of television success for drag queens from the North East, including Stockton’s La Voix appearing on Strictly Come Dancing and County Durham’s Ginger Johnson competing on MasterChef.

Can You Make £10k in 10 Days? airs on Channel 4 on Friday (January 9) at 8pm.
