Brandt scores shootout winner as PWHL-leading Fleet defeat Charge

OTTAWA — Hannah Brandt scored the shootout winner, and the Boston Fleet moved into sole possession of first place in the Professional Women’s Hockey League following a 3-2 shootout win over the Ottawa Charge Saturday afternoon.

Abby Newhook and Alina Muller scored in regulation for the Fleet (8-3-2-2), and Aerin Frankel stopped 23 shots.

Rebecca Leslie scored a pair for the Charge (4-5-1-7) and Gwyneth Phillips made 21 saves.

Ottawa led 2-1 midway through the third period, but the Fleet tied it on the power play at 13:26 when Muller’s shot deflected off the skate of Ottawa’s Kathryn Reilly.

The Charge started the third period on the power play and Leslie took a pass from Emily Clark in front and scored her ninth to tie things 1-1.

Less than two minutes later Leslie took control again, cutting across in front and firing a wrist shot a shot past Frankel to give the Charge a 2-1 lead.

With her 10th of the season Leslie moved into a five-way tie for the scoring lead with 16 points (10 goals, six assists). Ottawa’s Brianne Jenner also reached 16 points with an assist on Leslie’s first goal.

Leslie nearly had her third midway through the period, but the puck rolled off her stick as she tried to beat Frankel shortside.

Both teams were flat in the second period. Ottawa didn’t register its first shot until the midway mark and only got one more.

The Charge came out with a solid first period, but it was the Fleet who capitalized.

With 5:08 remaining Muller found Newhook just inside the blue line. Newhook was able to get a shot through traffic to beat Phillips.

Charge: Ottawa’s power play capitalized on its first opportunity, scoring eight seconds into the third period.

Fleet: Frankel was the difference in the first and third as Ottawa pressed.

Man City’s next five fixtures compared to Arsenal after Leeds United win

Pep Guardiola’s side have come away with all three points at Elland Road, piling further pressure on Arsenal in the Premier League title race

The Premier League title race is heating up and looks set to go down to the wire with only a couple of months of the season remaining. Manchester City secured another important win, beating Leeds United 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday evening.

Antoine Semenyo scored the opening goal on the cusp of half-time, tapping in a cross from Rayan Cherki. The result cuts the gap to Arsenal to just two points, and City still have a game in hand against Crystal Palace.

That fixture was originally scheduled for the weekend of the Carabao Cup final, when City will face Arsenal at Wembley on March 22. Arsenal, meanwhile, will look to restore their lead to five points when they host Chelsea on Sunday.

With that said, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at City’s and Arsenal’s next five fixtures after the win at Leeds.

Fans react to Taylen Green’ “insane” 40-time at 2026 NFL Combine

Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green posted a remarkable performance in the 2026 NFL Combine. This year’s event has given fans plenty of memorable moments.

Some players have turned heads with their comments, while others showed off their athletic abilities in front of scouts, executives and coaches.

A quarterback prospect might have raised his stock on Saturday after breaking a combine record. Day 6 of the event featured quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs on the field.

He made history at the most-watched drill of the entire event. Green recorded the fastest 40-yard dash in 20 years.

Green’s performance drew mixed reactions. He was considered a future star, but some noted that his college numbers weren’t the best for a quarterback.

“Next Anthony Richardson,” one fan said.

“Insane. Future star,” another fan said.

“Can’t outrun those 35 career interceptions though,” another fan said.

“Just go play WR, those are elite measurables and the QB understanding of defenses will be a big plus,” one fan said.

After spending three seasons with the Boise State Broncos, Taylen Green joined the Razorbacks. He spent two seasons in Arkansas. Green went 715 of 1,190 for 9,662 yards and 19 touchdowns during his college career. He threw 35 interceptions, including a career-high 11 in 2025.

Taylen Green broke a combined record after impressive 40-yard dash

After posting the third-best 40-yard dash for a quarterback, trailing Virginia Tech’s Michael Vick (4.33) and Texas A&M’s Reggie McNeal (4.35), Taylen Green didn’t stop there. The quarterback set a new record for his position with a 11’2″ broad jump, surpassing Anthony Richardson‘s mark 10’9″ in 2023.

Additionally, he posted a new quarterback record in the vertical jump, recording a 43.5″. He also surpassed Richardson’s 2023 record of 40.5″.

Taylen Green is projected to be selected on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL draft. It remains to be seen if he remains a quarterback if he makes it to the league.
