Eddie Howe stance on Man Utd job revealed after Roy Keane support | Football
Eddie Howe has no interest in replacing Ruben Amorim as Manchester United manager, according to reports.
United are searching for their next permanent manager after Amorim was sacked on Monday.
Darren Fletcher has been placed in interim charge, while United are due to hold talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Saturday about a return to Old Trafford.
United are looking to appoint Solskjaer until the end of the season, which will allow the club to spend several months selecting a long-term replacement for Amorim.
Michael Carrick, who was an assistant under Solskjaer, has also been approached by United.

Earlier this week, former United captain Roy Keane named Howe as his choice to become the club’s next permanent manager.
‘I’d go with Eddie Howe. I like him. I like what he’s done,’ Keane told Sky Sports.
‘He’s managed a lot of games. When his teams are at it, they’ll play good football. He has his critics, but I like what he’s done at Newcastle.
‘He’s managed seven or 800 games. He’s still a young man. I love his calmness. Maybe Man Utd need a little bit of that.
‘We’ve seen with our previous [managers], we like people with emotions, but he’s got that calmness. The job he’s done at Newcastle, Champions League and winning a cup, I’d be happy to see him go in there.’
However, The Times reports that United have not made an approach for Howe because it was ‘made clear’ that the 48-year-old is not interested in leaving Newcastle United.
The report adds that Howe, who has over three years remaining on his current £6 million-a-year deal, is ‘more committed than ever to Newcastle’.
Meanwhile, Alan Shearer has warned Howe about a move to United.
‘I wouldn’t have thought Eddie Howe would take the Manchester United job, that’s for sure,’ Shearer told Betfair.
‘I understand why his name is mentioned as he’s taken Newcastle from relegation candidates to regularly challenging for cups and the Champions League places.
‘But with the control and understanding he has at Newcastle now, I’d be amazed if he entertained it. He’s said he’s happy at Newcastle, and with the control, being able to do what he wants is key.
‘It has been a graveyard for a while for players and coaches, hasn’t it? There have been so many in there and it just hasn’t worked. I know they’ve got a new regime with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but there have been so many poor decisions. It would take a brave man to go there.’
